'The friends of Mr. Mad den will be glad to know that he is im proving and'was able' to ride up to the station a-few days ago. ' 'Miss Julia 'Cunningham is spending awhile with her aunt, Mrs. 'Montjoy, in Clinton. 'Misses Jessie Thompson and Nora Thompson, of 'Laurens, visited at the home of Mr. J. A. Madden Friday. A letter from Dr. A. B. Langston, at Valdosta convoys the news that he reached his destination safely and found South Georgia quite 'a fine coun try. He is agent for the Foreign Bap tist Mission Board and will solicit funds for the Judson memorial fuind. He will be there about six weeks. The supervisor of rLuds Is having some very essentiul work done, In hav ing an excepdingly \ad hole near New Prospect Church bridged over and ditches cut along the side of the noad. This spot had become almost im -passable. The sick are better. Mrs. Mollie Langston is recovering from a spell of grippe; Mrs. M. T. Allison is also up and little Kathleen Martin made her first visit to school since her leg was accidentally cut by a-knife on her way home from school over two weeks ago. 'Mr. and Mrs. Jim Check were- the guests 'Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Thad Moore. Mr. Luther Finley visited relatives at Cold Point Sunday. Two agents for a hay press, from North Carolina, were visitors at the hope of Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Watkins. They, were snow bound there for a few days last week. .Mrs. Griff Finley and children visit ed her mother, 'Mrs. Cunningham, of the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood. It 'will be good news to all to know that the magnificent struction knfown as "the Madden depot' 'is receiving a now coat of paint and otherwise be ing beautified. It is the hope of all that when the A. C. L. takes over the management of this road that we will, at least, be given at shelter from the elements. We have onl'i a partial one now. Morris, of Princeton, delivered 'an able ser mon here last -Sunday evening to an appreciative audience. He is held in high esteem by all denominations. 'Messrs. Walter and Frank Jones are doing some excellent work on their fa'rm, preparatory to another crop. Ouar 'Sunday school is doing 'icely under the wise supervision of Hon. J. Frank Morrison. We feel very proud of our little band and time alone can reveal the good that may be accom plished. Mrs. G. L. Graham was to have rep resented our Sunday school during the convention at Anderson, last week, but owing to the inclemency of the weath er, she had to forego the pleasure of attending. ,irs. J. A. Hill, after a protracted ill ness is fast improving, much to the de light of her 'many friends. Messrs. George and Adam Jones are kept quite busy supplying the demand for wood and cedar posts at Ware Shoals. Miss, Dorcas Graham, of Ware Shoals, Mrs. Earle 'M. Caine, Rev. R. F. Morris, of 'Princeton, and Mr. Wal ter .ones, were recently entertained at tea by Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Graham. Mr. John Stone, of Laurens, visited his sister, -Mrs. Frank Morrison, Jr., last week. Dr. Willio T. All male citizens b tween the ages of 21 and 60 years on the 1st of Jan uary except those who are incapable of earning a support from being maim ec or from other causes, are deemed polls, Confederate veterans excepted. Also all male citizens -between the ages of 18 and 50 on the 1st day of January, 19i5, are liable to a road tax of $1.50 and are required to make their return of same to the Auditor during the time above specified and shall pay to the County Treasurer at the same time other taxes are paid in lieu of working the road. All taxpayers are required to give Township and No. of School District; also state whether property is situat ed in town or couitry. Each lot, tract or parcel of land n ust be entered sep arately.
