Cross lil, Dec. 29.--A marriage of
considerable interest to the people of
Cross 11111 because of the accluaintence
-here of the bride, who lived her;; for
a number of years, was celebrated at
the home of the ofilciating niinister,
11ev. .1. A. 1tartin, one day last week,
when Miss Lillian P'roffitt of Madden,
was united in iuarriage to Mr. Walter
Moore. of 1,auren s. Many are the kind
wishes for the happiiess of the young
conple in their new relation of love
and devotion.
After continuous suffering for itore
than two weeks, Mr. Augustine Waiker
Itichardson died Friday night at his
homne in liiriiningliaiii, Ala. The re
iains were brouight to Cross 11111
Sunday morning by his brother, .Joh1
lIichtirdson of Columnbia, and were
interred in Ljiberty Springs c'enetery
Sunday afternoon. The funeral rites
were conduc'ted by Itev. W. I). Itatch
ford in presence of a large anher
of sorrowing relatives and sy.iathIiz
ing friends.
Mr. Riichardson was forty-one years
of age and leaves a wife anid t wo clil
dren who were present at the fmner
al services. It'a.ides his iin iiediate
family he is survived by his mother,
Mrs. Othella iichardson of this place,
two brothers, Messrs. .John ichard
son of Columbila and ''oiver Richard
son of Washington State, and one sis
ter, Mirs. Alice Miller of Monntville.
All these, with other relatives, have
tho syntpathy of many friends in their
sore aillietion.

Watts Mill, Dec. 29.-Christmas
passed off very quietly. There was the
least drinking and the best order ev
er known at this 'place. After- a short
vacation of only one day and a half
most every one returned to their
work on Friday morning.
The Christmas tree and entertain
ment which was 'held in the church
on Wednesday night was visited by
a large congregation and very much
enjoyed by all presuat. ''ie exer
cises began at 7:15 o'clock ahdt were
conducted by the superintendent of
both schools. The program was car
ried out very nicely. The recitations
were splendid. Some of the most
symi athetie pieces were as follows:
"The drinking ahouse over the way",
by 3liss Annie Pearl Bobo; "The last
hymn" by Miss lertha Mae Powell;
"Over the hrill to the poor house and
over tle hill from the floor house", by
Mliss Gertrude .ordan and M1iss Allie
(lae Allen; "'l'ommy's prayer" by
1liss Alice itrown. At the close of
the exercises a very beautiful tree
which was loaded down with many

nice box of oranges which was pre

the purpose of electing otllcers for
the church tnd Sunday school for the
coming year. The church granted the
