Miss Sadie Sullivan, who Is leach In/; this year at Cross Anchor, spent the week-end in the city with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. .1. H. Sullivan. Misses Cattle Kate and Ruth Kaster by spent several days of last week as the glints of Miss Annie Mae Law son In Columbia. They are now vis iting in Dillon. Mr. and Mrs. .1. E. Davis of Ware Shoals were in the city shopping last Thursday. Mr. Davis has recently purchased an Overland touring car from Mr. Rasor of Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. McXair. of Alken, arrived in the city Saturday to visit Mrs. McNalr's mother, Mrs. Mary Ro land. Mr. McNalr returned to Alken Monday, but Mrs. McNalr is still in the city. Mrs. John Hicks was called to Al lendale Monday because of the sud den death of her mother, Mrs. Dr. Breeden. The body of Mrs. Brenden was found lifeless in bed early Mon-1 day morning, she evidently having died suddenly and painless some time during the night. TEACHER'S INSTITUTE DURING THIS WEEK Teachers of the County to Gather Here Friday and Saturday of This Week for Study. Below is given a program of the Teachers institute which meets here on the 6th to 8th of this month. This Is the first meeting of the kind ever held in the State, its object is pro fessional assistance for each and ev ery teacher of the county. Every teacher In the county Is expected to be present. Homes will be arranged for those who request It. Trustees are urged to see that their teachers are here for the first meeting. Hallowe'en at Sandy Springs. The Hallowe'en entertain .nent at Sandy Springs school was a success from beginning to end. The school rooms were appropriately decorated in Autumn leaves ami jack-o'-lanterns. A Hallowe'en souvenir was pinned on each guest on entering. The children, who were trained by the very efficient teachers, .Misses Cunninghalm ami Simpson, acted their parts splendidly, from the fortune teller and the old witch, who unsealed your fate, down I to the black cat and rag dolls. The crowning of the queen by the fairies was good. The clowns, ghosts and lit tle bunnies added much to the amuse | mont of the evening. Mother Nature, I Jack Frost and Little Red Ridinghood were represented well. The lunch of sandwiches, chocolate and coffee given by the school was enjoyed by the guests. The school was delighted with the collection of $12.:'.o which will be used for the improvement of the school rooms. j One Present. Henry Counts' Assailant Convicted. D. I>, Dixon, who it will be remem bered made an attack upon Mr. Henry Counts of this city in Greenwood several months ago. indicting severe Wounds, was tried at the court of gen eral sessions for Greenwood county last week and found guilty of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. He was sentenced to pay x fine of $200 or to serve G months in the penitentiary or upon the public works of the county. It is stated that the case will he appealed to the su preme court.
