RULES OF CONTEST
1. This contest begins October s, 1018, and closes December

2. The L?nerns Advertiser will publish from time to time the
standing of the contestants.

contest.
f. The right is retained to alter the rules as occasion may re
quire or settle all questions that may arise.
5, No one who is in any nay connected with the Laurens
Advertiser can enter their children in the contest.
Ii. AU territory within the corporate limits of I.aureus will
be known as District No. 1.
All rural routes and towns in I,aureus and adjoining coun
ties outside of I.aureus will he known as District No. 2.
7. On December 6, 1818, the closing day of this contest a com
mittee ofi three well known business or professional men of the
city not interested in the contest will he appointed to count the
votes and award the prizes. This assures every candidate that
their interests will be ?eil looked after by local men (the names
of the men appointed nill appear in the l.iiurcns Advertiser before
the close of the contest.)
S. In case a tie vote at the end of the contest) the prize will
he eqinUlv divided. No two candidates will he permitted to double
up. If you drop out you lose all. Votes are absolutely not trans
ferable.
!>. Subscriptions moj be taken to start any time. If Mr. Jones
wants to help you notwithstanding that his subscription is already
paid in advance, you may secure his renewal and we will date the
subscription ahead from the date of the expiration of the present
subscription.
10. You may take subscriptions from any place in the I'nited
States or Canada without increase of the regular subscription rates.
Because your child is a contestant in District No. I, or No. 2, you
are by no means limited to that district Rg a Held of endeavor.
11. The vote scheduled will remain exactly the same through
out the entire contest. Turn in your subscriptions and we will gi\e
a special vote coupon which can he voted at any time before the
close of the contest except that no contestant will be allowed in
any one week to vote over 10,000 ahead of the leader of the week
before. All ballots over and above must be held in reserve. Start
ing with the last week of the contest this rule will be withdrawn
mid the reserve vote can he voted at "ill.
12. All books and records concerning the contest will lie
thrown open to the public immediately after the close of the con
