Dr. and Mrs. Clifton Jones and Miss Mary Sullivan motored to Spar tanburg and returned Sunday by way of Greenville. Where they were joined by Miss Carol Horndon, who will vis it them for a few days. Mr. Yancy Qilkersoni w'.o has been living in Florence for the past se\or al years, has resigned his position there to return to his old "stand" with 11. Terry, the popular dry goods merchant lure. Mr. Gilkorsbn return ed to Laurens Monday night and took up his duties Tuesday morning. All of his old friends are welcoming him home again. Rev. and Mrs. C. F. Rankin and daughter. Singing Convention, As stated in The Advertiser some wcoks ago. the County Singing Con vention will be held at Sandy Springs, six miles northeast of Laurens, n< \t Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20 and 21. Duukllu delightfully en tertained at a vory onjoyablc party at her home on w. st Main street Friday afternoon. The house was beautifully arranged and decorated for the after noon, presenting a particularly pleas ing effect. After a number of games of Forty Two were played, a delicious salad course was served. The wcdtdtlg was a very quiet affair, only the relatives and a few intimate friends being present. The ceremony was performed by Hev. L. P. McOco. A wedding luncheon was served im mediately after the marriage an 1 tiled the happy couple took the afternoon train for Knoxvlllo, Tonn., and other points to spend their honeymoon, Mrs. Wyatt is a young lady of splendid qualities, being noted for a beautiful disposition and pleasant manners. Sept. 16.?Tito school hero will begin today with Prof. W. P. Culbortson in charge, assisted by Misses Hafner, McDanicl, Miles and Griflln. Prof. Culbortson is an ex perienced teaclier and no doubt every thing will move off nicely under his leadership. Misses Hafner of Chester, and MC Daniel of Due West, come to us highly recommended. Miss Miles taught here last year and Miss Griflln has been a teacher several years. The school will open with a full attend ance. Hon. It. A. Cooper was ex pected to make an address. I suppose the rain kept him from coining. Mr. H. A. Wharton, Mr. .1. O. Denny and Prof. Culbortson made timely remarks. A goodly number of patrons were on band although it rained incessantly. Mr. Denny is an earnest Sunday school worker and will make a good record no doubt. Some years ago this cor respondent was an active worker In this cause and at one time was presi dent of the association and regrets that on account of physical disabili ties we no longer can take part in such work. They will bo tried at an early date. \ Moonlight Picnic The most enjoyable occasion of the season was a moonlight picnic given at Tumbling Shoals Saturday evening by a few of Rnbun and Hondorsonvlllc communities' young people. After taking a stroll around the shoals hi the evening, the young people decided to have supper and of course it was very much enjoyed. Messrs. Heek? of Ware Shoals, Mr. ami Miss Knighl of Princeton enjoyed tno picnic ulso. Hope to have another one in the near future. "A.
