B. SHERWOOD DUNN MUST FACE TRIAL Former Lender of South Carolina Hull Moose Is Accused of Violating Geor gia Banking Laws. Agusta, Qa., Fob. 21.?Thfirty-five Indlcements, charging violation of the state banking laws, forgery and cm. bezzlemtnt, were returned hero to-day by the Richmond county grand jury which for the past three weeks, has been Investigating the failure of the Citizens Trust company, of Agusta, involving approximately $105,000 un protected by assets. Officials of tho dofunct Institution, Indictod include U. Sherwood Dunn, New York; D. H. Willard, Philadel phia, and several well known local men. , .Dunn, formerly a vice president of the Citizens Trust company, was in dicted on two counts charging viola tion of banking. laws. Willard Is charged In the Indictment with forg ery and embezzlement. W. B. Pace, Augusta, president of tho company, was indicted on nine counts, charging violation of bank ing laws, while M. C. Mr. Charlie Kllllngswortll and two of his children are reported as dan gerously ill. Several have pulled through with out having any bad after-results. A great many fear it will get into the schools and give trouble along that line. We are all sorry of the death of Julia Etta Pitts, a bright, smart and good girl, just blooming Into woman hood. The parents have the sympathy | of the entire community. Mr. Jas. B. Mauldin, of Owens, was in this community, on business not long since. Mr. J. F. Davis has given up his farming interest and is doing service for the Ware Shoals Manufacturing < lompany. The Sunday school at this place seems to be holding its own during the bad weather. Our prayer meeting is held Sunday evening at 1 o'clock. We want everybody to attend these pray er services. Preaching every 4th Sun day at 11 a. m. and at night. Our law makers seem to be trying to see who can get ahead. It looks now from the papers that McCravy. of Plckena, is in the lead and Williams, from the same county, is trying to come io the front. Harrah for little Plckena. We are trying to watch their procedings this time Say, they gave us a marriage license, two years ago. Some of them will be trying for the divorce law this time. HICKORY TAVERN' NEWS. ************** Hickory Tavern, Feb. 24.?The ex change party given by the ladies of Hendersonville School Improvement Association, Friday night, was a suc cess. A nice sum was realized. Thlf will go for the Improvement of the school. The prize given for the great est number of trades, was won by Mr, Milton Wilson. Mr. D. D. Hrowulee of Dials, was the guest of his brother and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Holt, Friday night. Misses Agnes and Mae Abercromble of Shiloh, -were the visitors of Mrs. Fannie Abercromble, Friday night. A number of people from this sec tion went to Laurens Saturday. Among them were Messrs. J. A. Roper, J. R. Heliums, Ed. Wilson, G. C, and Li. F. Abercromble. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Sumeral, and daughter, Rosa Mae, visited Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Weathers, Saturday and Sunday. Mr. W. D. Sullivan Jr., lost a fine mule last week. Mr. Anderson Abercromble is spend ing several days with his sister, Mrs. E. C. Motes, of Maddens. Mr. William Abercrombie and fam ily will move to Pelzer today. His friends regret to see him leave, but hope he will be pleased with his new home. Mr. D. \V. Abroerombi. who has been sick for several weeks, is improving at this writing. Mr. Felton Roper and .lessee Kellet who have been real sick are improv-| ing.
