Pitts visited the Lisbon high school this afternoon and made a talk that the children as well as some of the pu trons will remember for a time. Mr. Pitts Is a good speaker and Is always able to interest those who have the op portunity of hearing him. Miss Oarrett has mado wonderful improvements on the Interior of the school building by putting up lovely pictures and they will make a better show when she gets the interior paint ed. She has her whole heart In her work. Watch and seo the results! Some of her boys have already join, ed the coru contest and wo hope that some of the Lisbon boys will win out at the show down. Oan't some of the girls in the vicinity get up a tomato club? If other girls in other parts of the state can make a success and win a prize at the same time wo see no reason why some of the Lisbon girls can't do likewise. Wo hope that Miss Garrctt will try to get some of her girls interested in a tomato club. Let them read what Miss Cromer had to say about the tomato club and what it did for the girl who succeeded and Is now at Winthrop college. She is like Jerry Moore, the great champion corn raiser. Jerry Moore's name will go down in history. Suppose Jerry Moore never had made the effort. Wo would not have known there was such a boy in the world, but he Is a hero of great note. The first thing visitors wanted to see at the corn show, was the boy who produced more corn per acre than any boy in the world. Wo wish that everybody In South Carolina could have gone to the corn show. "Aunt Kate" asked us to write it up but we must say that we are not equal to the emergency, that was one rea son we wanted "Aunt Kate" to go down. A woman can see more than a man and can say more after she sees things. Farm work Is at a standstill. The ground Is good and wet, everybody is doing fairly well excepts colds. 13. H. Pasley.
