Harris, formerly of Wa terloo but now of Spartanburg. was in the city yesterday. Mrs. John P. Bolt left Friday for a few weeks' visit to her daughter, Mrs. Frank Tatntn, in McColI. Mr. W. D. Patterson, of Lnnford, spent Monday in the city with Mr. J. Lee Langston and family. Miss Willie Dorroh returned to her school at Harmony, after spending the week-end with her mother. Mrs. W. B. Rlchey, Sr.. leaves the latter part of the week for Florence to visit Mr. and Mrs. Hart Rlchey. Mrs. John M. Cannon has returned from Bock Hill, where she has been spending a week with her mother. Mrs. Sam B. Tally, of Fairfax, ar rived in the city Sunday to visit her parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Boyd. Mr. W. M. Stone and daughter, Miss Lala Stone, were among the visitors in Laurons Friday from near Gray Court. Mr. James Sullivan returned Mon day morning after a visit of a few days in the lower part of the state. Mrs. C. A. Foster left Saturday for Timmonavllle after spending several weeks with her mother, Mrs. W. T. Dorroh. Mr. J. E. Mlntor and family and Mr. F. M. Smith, of Sedalia, spent Sunday In the city with Mr. Mlnter's father and brother. Mrs. Annie Garllngton and Mr. Gor don Garllngton. ' of Hendersonvllle. have been spending a few days in the city with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Patton and little child, of Grafton, W. Va., are visiting the latter's sister, Mrs. W. H. Ander son and Mr. Anderson. Rev. S. C. Byrd. president of ChlCO ra College, has been spending several days with his brother. Mr. W. I). Byrd, a few miles from the city. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Mason, of Char lotte. N. C, are expected in the city the latter part of the week #to be the guests of Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Clarke. Col. T. B. Butler, of Caffney, spent several hours in the city yesterday on his way from Clinton where he had been to make an address before the new county boosters. Mrs. W. C. Irby, Jr., left a few days ago for Jacksonville, Ala., where she goes'to be present at the marriage of her sister, Miss Bert Stephensou. who is very pleasantly remembered here. Mr. Geo. C. Copeland, of Clinton, father of Mr. M. L. Copeland, spent several days in the city last week with tho latter. Mr. Copeland has just celebrated his ninetieth birthday, thought he is still hale and hearty and is enjoying good health. To Beautify Church. Tho Presbyterian church has just received a handsome new carpet to be placed in the main auditorium of the church. The carpet is of a handsome royal velvet material, of a solid red col^... Miss Mae Babb of Rabun visited Mrs. Dr. Reason of Eden section from Fri day until Sunday. The farmers will soon be through picking cotton in this community. They are only making about half as much this time as they did last year. Prof, and Mrs. T. Houston Babb are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Helton Owens of Eden community this week. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nash, Mr.Frank Nash and sister. Miss Hattie, were in Lau t ens Monday on business. NEWS FROM JONES. ? Jones, Nov. 11.?Contractor King has built a good bridge on Mulbury Creek. Mr. Eddy Pitts operates a marble yard and will appreciate the patronage of those in need of work. The recent oyster supper of the W. O. W. at Ware Shoals given for the benefit of thol.' lodge was a very en joyable occasion. Frank Jones attended the state fair.' The annual meeting of the stock holders of the Ware Shoals Mfg. Co. was recently held. The company has had a very prosperous year and the building of the addition to the mill and other Improvements aro progressing nicely We recently had the pleasure of meeting N. B. Dial, W. U. tllchey and Mansel Owens of 1.aureus, J. T. Mediock of Greenwood, W. P. and Jas. Williamson of Donalds and Mr. Blake of New York. Hurrah for Woodrow Wilson. How I grateful we should be. His adminis tration, if wisely managed, will be a blessing to the nation and especial ly to the south. Mr. 1. N. Cooper has plalnted his house. Ware Shoals continues to pay the highest price for cotton. There's no better market and the farmers from every direction are hauling their cot ton there. Mr. Newt Golden attended court re cently, in Greenwood, as a grand juror The friends of Mr. Cram Saxon of Donalds, but formerly of Brewerton, will be pained to learn of his recent death.
