Mr. Enoch Plnson will soon have the splendid brick store of Mr. J. El Lea man completed. Mr. Joe Carter of Clinton will be associated in business. with Mr. Lea man. They will open up in the early fall. Rev. Mr. Ratchford announced last Sabbath that he expected the Rev. W. T. Kruse of Philadelphia to preach for him next Sabbath tho 3rd. Sunday. Mr. Kruse and family have an ap pointment to visit friends a few days and will spent the week in Cross Hill. Death of Mr. IL C. Cole. Mr. R. C. Cole died last Tuesday night July 9th and was burled Wed nesday. He had bc?n sick several weeks with fever. He leaves a wife, four sons and one daughter. He was about fifty years old. He was a mem ber of the Baptist church and Rev. J. A. Martin Conducted the services at the church. The W. O. W. had ser vices at the grave. A large congre gation of relatives and friends at tended the funeral. The following were pall bearers: J. 1. lusti. Brooks Coats, Landon Reeder, J. C Pitts, J. O. Miss Frances Brltt has returned home after an extended visit to rela tives In Abbeville and vicinity. Miss Reeves of Elberton, Ga., Is the guest of her friend Miss Hettle Stone. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Snipes of Pelzer were the guests of Mrs. J. A. Scott one day last week. Rev. P. M. Bailey filled his regular appointment at Columbia church Sun day and remained over to visit the members of his congregation this week. Mr. Huff of Travelers Rest has been elected as principal of the high tchool here to succeed Prof. G. E. Welborn who has been elected principal of tbe Pelzer school. Tho school here is In a very flourishing condition under the supervision of Prof. Welborn who established the high school. Mr. Huff comes highly recommended and is a teacher of much experience. WATTS MILLS * Watts Mill, July 13.?The cotton and corn on the Watts Mill farm Is growing nicely and there is at present a promise of an abundant harvest Mr. Lafayette Uellams, of the Shtloh community, has been visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter Shockley. Mr. B. L. Martin and family, who have resided at Watts for a number of years, havo moved to Dunean Mills, Greenville, 8. C. Much success Is wished them by their friends. The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Culbertson who has been quite 111 with pneumonia Is some better at this writing. Quite a crowd gathered at the Watts Mills store Friday and Saturday nights to hear Mr. Spencer, the cripple lec turer, from N. C. He Is a good speak er and hlB good words of advice and his witty sayings were enjoyed by all. He received a nice collection as his reward for his' coming to Watts. Mr. John Tidwell is' now over seer of weaving at Watts Mills, Mr. L. O. Bishop having resigned his po sition here, to take a Bimllar position at Arknlght Mills of Spartanburg, 8. C. Mr. and Mrd. W. A Hellams are all smiles?Its a girl. A series of meetings will begin at the Watts Mill Methodist church Sun day night. The Woodmen of the World Camp at this place Is on tho boom. There has been a new member initiated al most every meeting night this year. The gardens have been exceedingly fine here this year. People of Watts are talking politics a great deal at "present. 1 ? Quite a number were out at church Sunday morning and night to hear Bro. Trogdon preach two good ser mons. His subject Sunday night was "Sin the Detective" and from the text "Be sure your sins will flind you out." He preached'a most searching sermon. The Baptist Sunday School of Lucas Ave. church, Mr. C. H. Sims, Super intendent, is in a growing condition and it is hoped that may more of the Watts Mill people will come out and join in thl3 grand and noble work. A goodly number came out to prayer meeting, Wednesday night. Services were conducted by Mr. S. M. Collier It Is sincerely hoped that the many will be present every Wednesday night at eight o'clock In the weekly prayer meeting. * DIALS. * Dials.?The community was sadden edSaturday the 6th, when it became known that Miss Carie Brownlee, aged 75 years, had departed from this life. Her death, although expecter was nevertheless sad. She suffered a stroke of paralysis ind lived 10 days after being stricken. She was an earnest Christian, having early in life built her faith on the "solid rock" of Christ. The interment took place at Dials Sunday the 7th at 11 o'clock, the service being conducted by the Rev. J. K. McCain. Mrs. David Blackwell and two chil dren, of Alabama are vlsisting her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. W. C. Curry. Mi ms Marie and Mattle Summons have returned from a pleasent visist with their Bister, Mrs. Boyd, of Green wood. Master John Raply Hellams of Spar tanburg, is visiting relatives here. Mrs.J. T. Gillespie and children have returned to their home In Greenville, after a short visit with Mr. Harris Curry and family. Mrs. L. R. Brooks spent Thursday and Friday In Laurens. Rev. J. P. Attaway and WllliamB Brooks and mother were the guests of Mr. D. D. Harris and family Sun day. Mrs. H. Y. Simmons and Bon, John visited in the Poplar Spring communi ty last week.
