Some sow ed oats and beardless barley and planted seed in the garden such as peas, beets and Irish potatoes. The rnln came Friday night and put a stop to it all. Rev. J. A. Martin has been quite ill for several days. He is better today. Messr. Charles IMnson and Kills Fuller, students of the Presbyterian College of Clinton were with home folks here Sunday. Mr. Benton Matthews of Clinton spent the week-end with his father, Mr. J. ?. Matthews. Mr. John Miller of Whitmire was in town Monday. Mr. D. A. Hipp of Clinton visited Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Austin last week. Mr. Will Cook is out again after a tedious illness. MT. PLEASANT. Mt. Pleasant. March 25.?Still the rain comes. The farmers in this sec tion have done very* little except cut and haul wood. It seems like the all wise creator has seen fit to check the planting of such a crop of cotton. Rev. J. A. Marlin filled his regular appointment at Mt. Pleasant third Sunday. He preached a good sermon and took a nice collection for min isterial education. Little Ona Fowler has whooping cough, but is getting on nicely. Mrs. Will Ridge, of Honea Path, is visiting her brother, Mr. Oscar Ell more. Miss Jessie Thompson Is visiting her sister, Mrs. Mollie Pinsou. Mrs. Wade Williams spent last Fri day with Mrs. Bettie Reld. Mr. W. W. Fowler Is one of our most successful potato raisers. Has potatoes still to eat and has sold 20 bushels for seed. Why can't everybody do the same? LANFORD NEWS. Lanford, March 25.?Farmers are making use of the few pretty days we are having, planting gardens, etc., hauling fertilizer is the order of the day. Mrs. John M. Cannon spent last week here with Mr. Cannon's parents, Mr. Cannon Is expected Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Burns have re turned to their home In Spartanburg after spending several days here. Capt. J. W. Lanford lost a valuable mule recently. Our community was Baddened by the untimely death of Mr. C. Llgon, who was drowned In the Khoree river *i last Friday. He was trying to get to the depot at Enorec with his cream The boat capsized. Mrs. Llgon has tho sympathy of the entire communi ty. The bridge at Warrior Creek was washed away. Also the one at Flem ing's mill, but they have them tem porarily fixed so you can cross all right. The mill will be so it can grind Thursday. L. M. Cannon was In Laurens Mon day on business. W. I). Patterson was a visitor to this city Monday. Miss Hille Franks and Miss Flossie Lanford spent Sunday here with their pa rents. Mrs. Minnie Willis has been confin ed to her room for the past week. Mrs. II. C. Shore Is still Improving. Mr. and Mrs. John Clark spent Sunday here. Prof. Alexander spent Friday night In Woodruff with his parents. Miss Florrle Lanford was at home to a few of her friends last Tuesday evening. Mr. Edd Lninson spent Sunday with his father here. Rev. Mr. Myers filled his regular ap pointment here Sunday morning. MADDEN NEWS Madden, March 26.?The pretty days of last week put new hearts In to the farmers and gardeners and things would have gone with a vim this week had not the rain of Sat urday fallen. As It was a few of the gardeners put In the Irish potatoes. Little Vera Flnley, whose serious sickness was noted last week has tali en a decided turn for the better. Mrs. Luther Flnley will go and spend a while with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Nelson. In the hopes that she will re cover her usual health. Mrs. Sallle Madden, of the Holly CJrove section was at the New Pros pect cemetery last Wednesday, put ting out flowers on her plot. She also called on her aunt. Mrs. Flnley. and the family of her uncle, T. S. Langston. Mr. Clyde Martin was the guest of his brother-in-law, J. L. Finley Satur day night. Mesdames M. T. Allison and Mollle Teague were In Laurens Friday, shopping and while there they called on their cousin, Mrs. Wolf. Mrs. John I. Brown was a recent visitor In our midst. While here she was the pleasant guest of her aunts, Mrs. Allison and Mrs. Teague. It is a very unusual occurance for us to pass over a fourth Saturday and Sunday without services at Prospect but owing to the bad weather and the absence of the pastor, there were none on Sunday, last however. Mr. W. H. Hudgens and children were out to see his mother, Mrs. Langston recently. Mrs. John U. Finley gave her fam ily and neighbors a neare by having a hemorrhage of the nose, one night last week. Simple remedies stopped the flow of blood however and her many friends will be glad to hear she Is up and about. Mrs. J. A. Wofford has been con fined to her bed for the last few days, but is up today. Mr. J. A. Wofford gave ample proof of what can be accomplished on a bad road. He and his lad of 12, with a two horse team and plow graded the road from his house to main road in live and one-half hours. It adds great ly to the appearance of his place. J. Pitts Henry, while up last week from Greenwood, was the guest of his cousin, Mr. J. R. Flnley. RABCN NEWS. Rabun, March 25.?The farmers have been very busy hauling home their fertilizer and plowing some the lnst part of the week. Miss Mae Babb visited Mrs. Dora Babb of Eden community Wednesday. Misses Vera and Alleine Baldwin visited their grandmother of Hickory Tavern section, Friday night and Sat urday. Mr. Zeb Vance and family, and Mrs. Nancy Owens and son, Mr. Dennis, were visitors of Mr. T. F. Babb and family Saturday. Mr. Nesbltt Mahon spent Thursday and Friday in Laurens on business. Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Reason and Miss Vivian Owens of Eden community were the visitors of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Babb and daughters. Misses Mae and Allic Babb Monday. A large number of sorrowing friends and relatives followed the body to its last resting place. Miss Jennie Kellett died Saturday, March 2:',rd and was burled at Green pond church. She was greatly be loved by a large circle of friends who regret her departure. Miss Sallle Nahors, of Columbia, is visiting her mother this week. Miss Jennie Babb visited Miss Sadie Gray Sunday.
