Wilson & Co. 1 TO BEGIN CAMPAIGN FOR COLLEGE EINDOWM'T Presbyterians will Begin Campaign In Tins Presbytery to Halse $55,000 as Its Apportionment. The Presbyterians of South Carolina nre engaged in a Campaign Tor the purpose of raising $200.000.00 for their educational institutions, viz., The Presbyterian College of South Carolina at Clinton; Chlcora College at Greenville and The Theological Seminary at Columbia. A Joint com miteo on endowment has been appoint ed to manage the campaign. This com mittee consists of nine, three repre sentatives from each of the schools, the President being one of the three. The personnel of the committee is as follows: Rev. E. E. Gillespie of York vllle, chairman, Rev. H. A. Knox, of Mnyesvllle, recording secretary, Mr. John McSween, Tlmraonsvllle, treasur er. Rev. It. P. Reld, ReldsvUle, Mr. Win. P. Anderson, Westminster, Presi dent 1). M. Douglass of Clinton. Presi dent S. C. Byrd of Chlcora and Presi dent Thornton Whaling of the Semi nary. The tlnancial secretary of the committee Is Rev. A. C. Hrldgman who has headquarters In Columbia. The plan adopted to raise this amount is what Is known as the "short-term simultaneous campaign" that has been used so successfully by the Young Men's Christian Associa tion all over this country. The cam paign Is conducted by Presbyteries? As there are seven Presbyteries of the Presbyterian church in South Caro lina, there will be seven campaigns. The third of these campaigns Is to be held in Enoree Presbytery. Eno rce Presbytery comprises the Presby terian churches of Greenville, Lau rens, Spartanburg, Union and Chero kee (west of Broad River) Counties. This Presbytery now has 58 churches with a total membership, according to '.ast reports of 5.-113. These churches will be asked to raise a sum of $G6, 000.00 and each church will have a definite part of this amount appor tioned to it, which it is expected to raise in a canvass to last eight days and to be conducted by picked men of the particular church. It was in the Christmas time that he left us and as the anniversary of his death draws near tho sadness of the hearts of those who knew and loved him best, Is Intensified.
