MONUMENT UNVEILING TO BE POSTPONED Itrenze Work for Monument for Wom en Delayed In Transmission^ Nm'm? ?itaUng Delay Jn Ceremonies. The unveiling of the monument to 1he South Carolina women of the -Confedorncy, set for December 14, will have to be postponed for a few days, on account of a delay in shipping the bronze group, which will cap tho ped estal, from Europe. The commission in charge of erecting the monument will hold n meeting as soon as pos sible and set a later date for the un veiling exercises. P. Wellington Ruekstuhl of New York, the sculptor who designed and executed the monument to the wo men of the confederacy, wired Capt. William E. Gonzales, treasurer of the monument commission, Saturday, that tbe bronzes had been delayed. His message, received Saturday, follows: "Capt. William E. Gonzales, Colum bia, S. C. ' Received cablegram stating bronze group shipped on steamer Lapland, arrislng December 11, too late for un veiling on December 14. Barring ac cident, can set up group by December 18. Np explanation of delay. (Signed) "P. W. Ruekstuhl." The monumment commission has as its members Gen. C. Irvine Walker of Charleston, Col. T. .1. Moore of Moore, Col. C. A. Reid of Anderson, MfcJ. John (1. Richards, Jr., of Liberty ! Hill, and Capt. William B. Gonzales of Columbia. The commission will meet at an early day to sot the new date for the unveiling. Daniel of Spartanburg spent last week with his sister, Mrs. Dr. Willie T. Jones. Mr. Odell McNInch, is building a nico cottage. We recently met the following friends, Col. Whartou and Mr. Long of Waterloo, Col. Machen and Messrs John Bagwell, M. B. McCuen of Princeton, Wlstar Culbertson and Joe Moore of Bkom. Col. Whartou recently delivered an address to the Woodmen at Ware Shoals. Brewerton Lodge A. F. M. will meet 10 a. m. on Saturday 23rd inst. There will he work in all the degrees, offi cers are to he elected and Installed, refreshments will he served. Mem bers aro urged to attend and visitors will be cordially welcomed. Mr. lohn Smith of Greenwood is put ting in water works for Mr. T. J. Beacham. Mr. W. C. Cobb, has purchased a splendid pair of mules. Willie T. Jones is In charge of our school. A. cordial welcome awaits all who attend. This is a splendid opportunity for our boys and girls who may wish to prepare themselves for college. The many friends of Capt. Win. Henry Moore will be pleased to learn that he has recovered from a recent slight indisposition. We cordially welcome Mr. Jim Lang ston and family who have cast their lot with us. Thanksgiving passed off very quiet ly and our people thoroughly enjoyed the day. Mr. Wesley Morrison of Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. lice Davis of Don alds spent Thursday at the hospitable home of Hon. J. Frank Morrison. Miss Mayme Kay, of Honea Path, visited Misses Daisy and Annie Hughes recently. Miss Jennie Haskell Henderson, daughter of Mr. 15. L. Henderson, af ter of malignant attack of typhoid fev er passed away on 2nd inst. and was laid to rest at Poplar Springs church in the presence of a large assemblage of sorrowing relatives and friends. She was universally loved and all of our people sympathize most tenderly with the sorely bereaved family. Miss Olivia Jones, assistant teach er of the Brewerton school, spent the week-end with her parents, Dr. and Mis. Townes Jones.
