"REBECCA OF 8UNNYBK00K FARM"
In Columbia November 8th and 9tb,
with Matinee the 9th.
Everyone remembers the beautiful
play "Hen Hur" which was present
ed in Columbia, and "Rebecca of Sun
nybrook Farm" will bring her mes
sage of cheer and sunshine to the cit
izens of Columbia and vicinity for
two nights. Wednesday and Thurs
day. November Sth and Oth, with mat
inee Thursday, when she will be seen
at the Columbia Theatre.
The dramatization of the book,
which had perhaps the greatest sale
of the last decade, for everyone loves
Rebecca and wants to know all about
her, was made by Kate Douglas Wig
gins, author of the book, and Char
lotte Thompson, who has several stage
successes to her credit. The play is
in four acts, and its personnel includ
es all of the people who were made
friends in the reading of the hook.
The dramatists have not confined
themselves to the earlier adventures
of Rebecca, but have taken when they
listed from the newer "Chronicles of
Rebecca," in which further incidents
in the career of that unconventional
young woman are related. The plot
revolves around Rebecca's life, at the
home of the Sawyer aunts, Miranda
and Jane who takes the girl because
there are so many children at her
home (her mother is a sister of the
delectable old maids) and w ho are hor
rified at the pranks and life of the
young girl who has come into their
home. Bui Rebecca's loving and lov
able nature asserts its power even ov
er the hardened characters of her
kinswomen, and when the last cur
tain falls she has not only conquertd
their liking but has made herself the
center of the world for them. The in
cident of the soap selling, in which
Rebecca was aided and abetted by her
chum, Emma Jane Perkins, and the ob
ject of which was to buy apiano lamp
for the destitute Simpson family, when
bread and bacon and baked beans
would have been infinitely more ap
propriate, brings the (dement of love
Into Rebecca's life, and with the close
of the play comes the Intimation of
wedding bells for her and ".Mr. Alad
din."
The company which will present
"Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" Is one
of the best 3ent out by Klaw & Er
anger, and their name is guarantee?
for the finest of casts and the most
elaborate and beautiful productions.
In the cast are Ursula St. George,
Sam Reed, Alfred Hudson, Jr., Maud
Ream Etover, Loyola O'Connor, Fan
nie D. MacCollln, Virginia Chauvenet.
Ruth Findlay, Claiborne Foster, Glayds
Waddell, Lillian Ross, Sidney Blair
and Henry Carl in.
Tickets will be placed on sale Mon
day morning. November 6th. Mail or

WILD WEST SHOW.
California Frank's Show to be Here in
Hig Covered Tent Coming Friday.
Masters and mistresses of, the lariat,
who can make a coll of slender rope
act as if enchanted, It Is promised, are
coming with California Frank's Wild
West on Friday, October 27th. They
are keen-eyed and clean-hearted cow
boys and girls; grown brown and
steong on the tremendous stretches of
western range-land.
No cowboy is eligible to ride with
California Frank unless he is prac
tically proficient with the lariat, whose
utility is required In almost every
Bpere of cowboy work. Branding,
"CUttlng-OUt", the capture and sub
duing of horses and cattle, and the
round-up would be impossible for ac
complishment without its twisting aid.
Constant daily resort to it makes the
galloping cowboy's aim unerringly ac
curate
'Soon his restless vitality will not
permit him to be satisfied with the
sole ability to make the lariat perform 1
prosaic duties, lie experiments with:
knots and loops and fantastic turns.
The possibilities fascinate hiin. With
the grazing cattle ;is Iiis audience, he
spins and tests and practices hour af
ter hour. The repertoire of the rope
becomes his pride.
in the long, Joy-giving program of
Indian and ranch lite and history
which comprises the California Frank
Wild West entertainment, none is a
greater source of amazed interest
than the exploits of the men and wom
en who twirl the lariat, it is assured.
