Mrs. Hicks ,of Greenville, has been visiting Mrs. William B. Bramlett for several days. Mrs. 1). II. Counts and family have returned after several weeks spent in the mountains. Mrs. John 1). Pitts lias been visit ing Mrs. and Mrs. ('. ('. Featherslone for several days. Cant. J. M. Philpol and Miss Marie Phil pot have returned from a very de lightful trip north Mrs. Charles IL Hicks and little daughter Katheriuo are visiting rela tives in Tennessee. Mr. Frank Caine .who has been in Chicago during the summer, is here visiting home folks. Miss Hnttle Kate Kasterby and Miss Ruth Kasterby are visiting Miss llattie Glasgow at Jalappa. Miss Ruth Johnson, of Chester, is the attractive guest of Misses Annie and Edna Sitgreaves. Mr. James Fuller, of Columbus. Ca.. who lias been visiting Mr. ('. W. Tum', returned home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. C. S. McLaurin, after visiting relatives here, returned Friday to their home in McColl. Miss Mary Sullivan returned Sunday after a very delightful stay of several weeks on Sulllvaus Island. Little Miss Louise Leonard, of Spar tan burg ,is visiting her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Jones. V, Masters William and Gray Moore, of ,? Greenwood, are visiting at the home of Dr. and Mrs. W. H. Dial. Misses Kate and Kvle Shands, of Clinton, aro visiting at the home of Dr. and Mrs. G. C. Albright. Mr. Ben Sullivan has left for Augus ta to resume his duties after a pleas ant visit to his parents here. Miss Amelia Lodge, who has I.a visiting friends in the city, left Satur day for her home in Gaffnoy. Mrs. Daniel and children, of Mul 11ns, are spending some time with Mis Haulers sister, Mrs. J. R. Kills. Miss Roberta Dorroh has accepted a position as stenographer in the ofilcc of the Laurens Trust Company. Mr. W. R. Rlchey and Mr. Grover RlChoy went to Abbeville by automo bile Sunday and returned Monday. Dr. Karl C. Owens, who Is now mak ing his headquarters In Gray Court was a Visitor in Laurens yesterday. Miss Sadie Sullivan will leave Sat urday for Leesville where she will vis it Miss Alma Barre and other friends. Mrs. C. W. Tune will leave Thurs day for Cartersvllle. Ca.. where she will visit relatives for some time. Mr. Hart Richey after spending sev eral days hero with bis parents, re turned to his work at Florence Sun day. Mr. George L. Pitts spent several days last week with Dr. T. L. Tim merman at the hitter's old homo near Plum Branch. Miss Mae Roper, of the Tumbling Shoals section of the county, is now the guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. Mae. Roper . Mr. Sam Talley arrived in the city Sunday and joined Mrs. Tally, both of them now being at the home of Mr. and Mrs. \V. L. Boyd. Invitations have been received here to a party to be given by Miss Laurie Gray, at Cray Court. Several from here will attend. Mr. George Anderson has returned to I his home in Rock Hill. His brother, ! Mr. John Anderson accompanied him to spend a while. Mrs. J. Ross Dorroh, of Gray Court, has returned to her home after spend ing some time with relatives and friends in the city. Mr. Tom Switzer has returned from the eastern markets where he has been for the purpose of buying a large fall stock for Switzer Co. Mrs. t'. A. Roland and Misses Ella, Bessie and Dollie Roiand have return ed from Brevnrd, where they have been spending some time. Mr .J. C. Shell returned Friday from the mountains of North Carolina, where he has been enjoying the cool ! breeze and mountain air. Mrs. C. A. Foster and little son, Charlie, of Timmonsville, return to their home today, after spending some weeks with relatives In the city. Mr .and Mrs. C. S. MoLaurin, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. D. C. McLaurin, accompanied the latter in their automobile to Greenville Thurs day. # Mr. Ed Sltgreaves, Mrs W. H. Mar tin and Master Henry Martin have re turned home after a delightful trip to Bristol, Tenn., where they visited rela tives. Mr. S. M. Wllkes, who has been north In the interest of S.. M. & E. IL Wllkes & Co. returned yesterday. Mr. Wllkes divided his time between business and pleasure. Mr. W. G. Wilson returned last week from the north where he spent a cou ple of weeks on a combined business and pleasure trip, buying his usual big fall stock. Mr. E. D. Langston will leave today for Montreat. On the return trip he will drive the automobile of Mr. J. W. Todd. Mr. Todd and family will re turn by rail. The many friends of Mr. Henry Veargin were delighted to see him on the streets here last week. Mr. Year gin has just recovered from a danger ous case of pneumonia. Mr. Jack Sltgreaves, who has been spending some time in the city with his relatives, has returned to his work in Bristol, Tenn., where he is employ ed in the express service. Rev. and Mrs. C. P. Rankin and chil dren returned Monday from their va cation which was spent in different points in Virginia and in New York, Philadelphia, Washington and other cit les. Mrs. Thos. F. Jones, of Woodruff, has been visiting her father. Mr. John N. Wright, for several days. Mrs. Jones charmed a very large congregation at the Presbyterian Church Sunday morn ing with a beautiful solo. Mr. .and Mrs. C. M. Clark have been busy during the past several days U10V Ine their household goods from the Todd house into the Traynhain home. All of the furniture has now been moved and they are com fort ably fixed in their new home. Dr. J. II. Miller, member of the leg islature from this county and an en thusiastic member of the County Fair Erecutlve Committee, attended the meeting of the County Medical So ciety Monday and incidentally paid The Advertiser a very pleasant call. Dr. Miller stated that the weather has I.n very dry around Cross Dill, even dryer than at has been around Lau rens. Mrs. W. H. Gllkerson left Monday ^ for Greenwood from where she con ' tinned yesterday to Ninety Six to be ' present at the marriage of her nephew Mr. Samuel Sherard, to Miss Louise Llpscomb, Mr. Sherard is well known heii- where he has visited on several occasions. After a few interesting games of cards, the hostess served a delight ful tea and sandwich lunch. Mrs. Rebecca Simpson, widow of the late Samuel Simpson, died at her home near Rarksdale Station Monday morning after an iilness of about a month. She was buried yesterday morning at Dials Church Cemetery, Rev. H .L .Raggott. conducting the sei vices. Mrs. Simpson was the sister of Dr. .1. M. Wolff of this county and Mr. .1. My ers died at the home of its parents yesterday morning. The funeral ser vices were held yesterday afternoon and the body interred in the city cem etery. A Correction. In the local mention which we made last week of Mr. Earl Wilson making a trip to Columbia by automobile, there seems to be some error, as Mr. Wil son states that instead of going to Columbia he only went to Clinton.
