USELESS EXPENDITURE
OF INSURANCE MONEY
Deputy Insurance Commissioner
\> inn Ion Suys That Laurens People
are Throwing Away Money Need*
lesslj.
Deputy Insurance Commissioner B.
A. Wharton w?s in the city on an in
spection tour of the state, gibing es
pecial attention to untidy premises and
defective Hues. The latter he gives a
great deal of time to.
Mr. Wharton. In speaking of the
matter of nonstandard flues, said that
by a very small outlay as much as
from one to three dollars can be sav
ed on each thousand of Insurance by
people In this city and all over the
state, it" they would only give the mat
ter n little attention. There are many
chimneys In this city built with the
brick on edge, or of liie, terra cotta
or metal. These are called .non-stand
ard Hues and can be easily remedied.
The standard Hue is one built with the
brick laid flat. One firm In this city
pays about $90 extra insurance when'
an outlay of four or live dollars in
vxnig two flues would save that
amount. In fact about 00 per cent,
of the stores within the business dis
trict are paying this entta insurance
unnecessarily. One of these Arms
during the past week spent $:i.')0 in
remedying a defective Hue and thereby
saved $17 a year.
Mr. Wharton also pointed out that
trash and other accumulations on
premises also tended to raise the in
surance rates by almost an equal
amount. In this connection he said
that l.aureus was to be complement
ed on the Improved appearance of the
streets and premises s:nce his last
visit. This he attributed in a large
measure to the work of Health In
spector Langston, who he said has'
been very diligent In keeping trash
and other accumulations from stand
ing.
Mr. Wharton also had a bOUQUOt to
throw at the civic leagues over the
state, saying that they are doing more
to reduce untidiness and uncleanllne.-s
in the cities than any one other agen
cy. In this way they are not only
beautifying their towns but they are
r-ducing Insurance premiums.
Mr. Wharton said that the object {
of hi.- inspections is to point out con
ditions whereby people in the state can
reduce their own Insurance rates by I
carrying out i few instructions at a
small outlay of money.

Eczema.
Don't close the pores of the skin
and drive It in. Persons aftllcted with
eczema, scrofula, psoriasis, ulcers,
pimples, etc., frequently have recourse
to strong astringent external remedies
to dry up and close the pores of the
skin in order to get temporary relief,
forgetting in their anxiety, that by so
doing they are forcing the poisonous
germn back into the blood to roacsort
tself a month after, in the old dis
ease a real or on some other part of
the body, Un a more malignant form.
How much better to help the blood
throw off the Impurities which cause
these diseases and get permanent re
lief. Blood Is the most important con
stituent of the human body, and when
Impure Is the' underlying cause of
most of our ailments, . particularly
skin diseases. Take Bloodlne to purify
the blood and apply Bloodlne Oint
ment to the skin and you will cure
the cause of this most dreaded dis
