COAL!
Did You Give Us Your Order for Your Coal?
If Not, We Want to Figure With You.
REMEMBER
We send a ticket with each and every load of
coal. This insures you against being charged with
coal which you do not get.
We handle only one grade of coal the best. This
insures you against getting a cheap grade of coal.
For there is a difference in coal.
We give a small order the same attention that
we do a large one.

Clenisou Letter.
Clemson College, S. C, June C.?At
the recent meeting of the Legislature
several important changes were made
In the laws governing the Clemson
scholarships, with the view of se
curing the fairest possible method of
awarding these scholarships.
Among the most important provis
ions of the nevt law is applicants
who have been In attendance at Clem
son College or any other institution
or higher learning known aa a Col
lege or university are debarred from
receiving a scholarship appointment
if there are any eligible applicants
from their respective counties. Such
a person is, however, allowed to stand
the COUipetative examination, but no
matter how good an average he may
make on it. his application will not
be considered unless the number of
other applicants making the required
grade is not sutllcient to take up the
scholarships vacant. This is done In
order that the applicants who have
hail the greater opportunities may not
have an unfair advantage over a less
fortunate, but equally worthy compet
itor.
A person Who has forfeited a schol
arship at Clemson College or any oth
er State Institution by reason of fail
ing to maintain his class standing is
entirely debarred from the appoint
ment on the very fair anl reasonable
supposition that he Is not the "most
worthy and needy young man." for
which the scholarship Is provided;
nor is a person eligible who during the
current year has won, or holds a
scholarship at both the Citadel and
Clemson. and about the time for Clem
son to open, decide to go to the Cita
del. This would cause a vacancy at
Clemson which, perhaps, could not be
properly tilled of the most worthy or
even, all of the other applicants hav
ing made other arangements."
Heretofore some confusion has been
created by applications for scholar
ships having to be tiled prior to the
examination. It is now provided that
no applicant shall be debarred from
standing the examination because he
has failed to till out the necessary
certificate of financial ability as re
quired by law. but this certlllcate must
be in the hands of the President of
Clemson College before the applicant
can be considered eligible for a schol
arship or not later than noon, August
1. The blank certificate can be ob
tained from the President, or from
the County Superintendent of Educa
tion on the day of the examinations.
Hereafter the Clemson Faculty Mi
slead of the County Superintendent jf
Education, will make the award of tiie
scholarship. If a scholarship vacancy
shall occur and the county to which It
belongs has no eligible applicant, the
Clemson Faculty may fill the vacancy
by awarding the scholarship to some
eligible applicant from another coun
ty, or If the vacancy occurs after the
opening of the session to a student at
the College. However, any such ap
pointment shall last not longer than
the current session.
The competitive examinations, cov
ering the common school branches,
will be held by the County Superin
tendent of Education at the county
seats on tho second Friday in July
from It:00 a. m? to 4:00 p. m.
No entrance examinations will be
required of students who have satis
factorily completed the second years'
work in the high school, or. In other
words, the ninth grade, as shown by
a certificate. This Is a new rule
which will prove very convenient, to
many. This does not. however, apply
to applicants for scholarships.
The equipment of the College is be
ing improved In every way. Prom
inent among these Improvements Is
the new dainty building with addition
al apparatus, tho new barns, and the
enlargement and Improvement of the
cadet barracks, all of which will be
completed by next September. Pro
vision Is being made for 200 addition
al students, increasing the capacity to
800.

HOW TO CURE RHEUMATISM,
It Is an Internal Disease ami Requires
un Internal Remedy*
The cause of Rheumatism and kin
dred diseases is an excess of uric
acid in the blood. To cure this terri
ble disease this acid must be expelled
and the system so regulated that no
more acid will be formed in exces
sive quantities. Rheumatism is an in
ternal disease and requires an inter
nal remedy. Rubing with Oils and
Liniment will not cure, affords only
temporary relief at best, causes you to
delay the proper treatment, allows the
malady to get a firmer hold on you
Liniments may easo the pain, but they
will no more cure Rheumatism that
paint will Change the fibre of rotten
wood.
Science has at last discovered a
perfect and complete cure, which Is
called "Rheumaclde." Tested in hun
dreds of cases,'Jt has effected the most
marvelous cures; we believe it will
cure you. Rheumaclde "gets at the
joints from the inside," sweeps the
poisons out of the system, tones up the
stomach, regulates the liver and kid
neys and makes you well all over.
Rheumaclde "strikes the root of the
disease and removes Its cause." This
splendid remedy is sold by druggists
and dealers generally at 50o and $1
