The Great Voting Contest is now j
getting so lively that The Advertiser j
lias decided to add another prize to
its already long and valuable list.
This will give a chance for those con
testants to get in on the ground floor
who have not been working so hard
heretofore. It is quite true that while
a large number of the candidates have
been doing hard and conscientious
work and incidentally piling up the
votes, there are some of them who
have not exerted themselves so much.
For these, this fifth prize has been
offered. The question is, who is going
to get it. It is one of the most valu

Winthrop College. April 29?Miss
Ruth Brown, a Laurens girl and a
member of the Freshman class, won
the highest number of points in her
class in the athletic contests on Field
Day.
The Junior class gave a reception to
the Senior class on Monday night.
April 17. This was give on the campus
which was decorated to represent
Fairyland. A play. Land of Night, the
marshals, the banquet tables, the wait
resses, toasts, and stories all took
something of the fairy nature.
The Winthrop Literary Society pre
sented the play. Dorothy Vernon of
Haddon Hall, last Monday night. The
society plays are always good and this
one was no except inn. There are three
literary societies at Winthrop. Fach
one gives a play at sometime during
the year. II means lots of work to
get these plays up, hut they are always
good. The amount cleared from these
plays helps out. in raising money for
the Students' Building, which is to be
biult sometime in the future.

Clubs, of Charlotte. N. C. spent yester
day at Winthrop, looking over build
ings and grounds and visiting classes,
especially classes in Industrials.
Mr. T?te, the State Supt. of School
Improvement and Miss Russle, who
holds the same position for York Coun
ty are now teaching the seniors. They
are presenting country school prob
lems for improvement and helping
the girls to see and know what to do
for them. It is hoped that as a result
of these helps, many of the .present
graduating class may go out with a
strong desire and determination to
help out in Improving those places that
need it so much.

Division met at Beaverdam church
near Mountvil'e Saturday and Sunday.
It was well attended and the interest
ing program was executed in a spirit
of earnestness and devotion. The mis
sionary sermon was preached Sun
dae by Rev. (i. II. Liner, of Clinton,
and a contribution was made to foreign
missions. The subjects of salvation
and a pure church especially elicited
warm and earnest discussion. A num
