Whereas, It has pleased God In His infinite wltflom to remove from our midst to her eternal home In Heaven our beloved friend and co-worker, be it resolved, First) That we bow in humble sub mission to Ills will, knowing that He doeth all things well. Mrs Bell was one of the highest types of Crlstlan woman, a devoted member of the Bap tist church, and a most ardent sup ported of all its institutions. She was a public spirited woman and always entered heartily Into every thing that pertained to the improvement of tho community In which she lived. Hav ing been elected president of tho J. B. Kershaw Chapter. U. D. C. of this city 4 years ago, she made a most ac ceptable leader, and during all the 4 years she never once faltered in her zeal and patriotism, having on her heart the erection of a monument to tho "Confederate Dead." A monument stands now in our city us a lasting memorial to her unfaltering patriot ism and zeal. It cnn truly be said pf her that the old Veterans have lost a friend. We may lose our leaders but the work <oes on and their spirit lives. Mrs. Bell in the body will not meet with us again, but In our midst w''l remain the inspiration of her zeal for service and labor In the cause which was so near her heart. Second, That to her bereaved hus ?bund we?extend our tenderest. heart felt sympathy, commending him to God who caused his sorrow. JoneH, March 6.?Miss Hannah Tol bcrt, accompanied by Mr. Joshua Coop er, visited her parents at i.aureus last Friday. Mr. John Frank Hill has returned from North Carolina. Mr. Bunch Powers, of Laurens, was in our midst recently, surveying. Missos Marie Sadler, Lilllo Mae Bowie, of Ridge Springs, visited rela tives here last week. In common with the many friends of Mr. Zach McGhee, we were real sorry to hear of his untimely death. His father, the late lamented W. G. McGhee, wns reared here and we have always felt an especial interest in his children. Brewerton Lodge, 183 A. F. M. will hold its next regular meeting 4th Sat urday, 2 P. M, Work in the E. A. and M. M. Degrees. Mr. John Culbertson has built a nice barn. Mr. Luther Cooper, has enlarged his cottage. Mrs. E. E. Martin has returned to her home in Strother. Mr. and Mrs. IL N. Crowe, and little son, Walter, paid us un appreciated visit recently. Our Sunday school is progressing nicely and we cordially invite every one to unite with us. Mr. Walter Jones has improved cot ton seer and prolific corn for sale. Our farmers are very busy making preparations for planting. Mr. Harris has opened up a stock of groceries and will appreciate the patronage of the public. Mrs. John Joyce, of Coronaca, vis ited her Bieter, Mrs. J. C. Martin, last week. Our venerable friend, Mr. Jas. Bald win, has been suffering with LaGrippc, but we trust that he may soon improve One of the most pleasant events of the season was a "box party" given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. W.
