"Sticking to the farm" is his slogan. ? ? ? At the .annual meeting of the South Carolina conference three years ago. the Itov. C. \V. Crelghton, member ol the conference and editor of the Chris tian Appeal, published at Greenwood, was ordered expelled because of cer tain views and criticisms expressed' in the columns of his paper, opinions that were deemed antagonistic with thoso held by the church. The de cision of conference was appealed to the general conference of the Metho dist Episcopal church, South, which met last week in Ashovlllo. On Wed nesday the commltteo on appeals vot ed to sustain the action of the South Carolina conference, and thus the mat- | tor is ended, for the report of the com-, mittoo is considered as final. Clinton. .May 17.?The trustees met this afternoon and re-elected tho corps of teachers except Miss Hlizaboth Bean who refused reelection. Miss Mar garet Parrot! Of Clinton and Miss Crolg of Mlnokstook were elected also. The addition will probably be built to the graded school during the sum mer, a bond issue of $12,500 having been made for the purpose. There is plenty of speculation as to the probable action of the Presby terian college hoard in .Inno. Dr. Adams' successor is to be elected and some other matters of considerable in terest will come up. Miss Burgess' music class will give a recital on Friday night. Kilgo as one of the seven new bishops to be chosen at this session. Dr. Kilgo has been president ot Trinity college for a number of years and is one of the most prominent Methodist divines in the South. He is a native of this State and for years was n member of the South Carolina 1 conference. He is well and intimately known to many Laurens people, hav ing lived here with his father, the late Itev. .lames T.
