ofed to Greenville Immediately after
this meeting, and to report the results
of this meeting to the promoters of the

special meeting. Arrangements were
inado tor the committee from this
meeting to have a hearing by the Duke
interests at onco, and ascertain upon
what terms their cooperation can be
secured. Another me ting will be held
soon at some place along the line to
hear the report of this committee.
The committee went to Oreenvllle
Immediately after the meeting at
Fountain Inn and bad a conference
With W. .1. Thnckston, the newly elect
ed president of tbe company tbat will
build the Intorurban line from Ander
son i?> Spartanburg. Mr. Thackston
pledged himself to do all be can con
sistently do to build tbe Greenville
Clinton branch. Mr. Thackston ex
pressed himself as being highly pleas
ed with the plan.
Tbe proposed line from Greenville
to Clinton would be about 45 miles in
length. The section between I.aurens
and Clinton, a distance of nine miles,
was begun some time ago by unother
company but would be used by tbe
proposed branch of the G. S. & A.
From Greenville the line would follow
a ridge nearly all tho way. hence the
o. t of construction would be eom
parltivoly small. Tin; country along
the route is a thickly settled one and
a rich fanning section. An electric
railroad through this section would
mean much for the county and would
no doubt be a paying proposition.?The
