Doings of the Barksdale People awl
Their Visitors During the
Happy Yuletide.
Barksdale, Jan. 11.?The Christmas
holidays were spent very lively since
there were so many visitors In town.
.Mr. s. io. Henderson and family will
move away in about two weeks. Mr.
Henderson has already resigned Ins
duty of postmaster and Mr. Ross
Power has that in Charge now.
Mr. and Mrs. George A. Drowning
of Qoldvllle, visited Mrs. Drownltig's
parents a portion of the joyous yule
tide.
A very brilliant occasion of the sea
son was the Christmas tree Riven by
the Sunday School of Highland Home
church on Christmas eve. The church
was beautifully decorated in holly,
mistletoe and ferns. The tre<> was
crowded with many gifts, and a nice
box of articles sent to the Connie
Maxwell orphanage of Greenwood.
Mr. Fugene Burns entertained his
friends on the last night of Christinas
and was a very enjoyable occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Putnam, of Vir
ginia Institute, Bristol, Va.. Spent Hi"
Christmas vacation In town, visiting
relatives and friends. This was Mrs.
Putnam's first visit to Barksdale.
.Miss Adelaide Harper returned last
Sunday after spend inj; two weeks at
home in Kingstree.
Miss Mae Henderson, of Manning,
and Miss Carrie Henderson, of Clin
ton, stayed some time with their par
ents during Christmas.
Miss Corinne Putnam spent the hol
idays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
W. A. Putnam, of this place. Miss
Putnam was ill most of tin1 time dur
ing her stay, and was not able to par
ticipate in the social gayllies of the
season. She left Monday to re-enter
Virginia Institute, Bristol, Va.
Messrs. Arthur and Roy Putnam of
Greenville were hero from Friday un
til Sunday.
Mr. B. V. Ca n et i. of Prince, West
Virginia, returned last Friday to re
sume his duties there.
Mr. Rugene Burns who is attending
school this winter at Fnrmau I'nlvcr
sity left Monday, arter spending a
pleasant vacation with bis parents.
