Walterhoro, Jan. lb-?One of the
most beautiful weddings that bau tu
j ken place in Walterboro in a number
of years was solemnized at the resi
v deuce or Capt. A. C. Shaffer, at high
noon on Tuesday. January when
Miss Emily Shaffer Bellinger became
the bride of Mr. Samuel lOlinore Honey
of 1,aureus. S. C. The ceremony was
performed by the Rev Thomas P.
Baker, rector of St. .Hide's Episcopal
Church, of this place, in the presence
of a large number of relatives and
friends of the contracting parties.
The lovely and spacious home of
Capt Shaffer, the guardian of the
bride, was most beautifully and artis
r Ucally decorated for the occasion, the
color scheme being a happy combin
ation of green and white, in the west
parlor, in which the ceremony was
performed, the scene presented was
one ot rare beauty and charm. Here
the ingenuity and taste of the dec
orator were most effectively display
ed. . Prom the centre ot the ceiling,
from which was suspended a large
white wedding boll, intertwined with
?4?h delicate tracey of green, garlands of
Sinllax, interwoven with gray moss,
reached to the four corners of the
room. Against the wall, facing the
door. The bridal altar was placed, and
this was most charmingly decorated
with a profusion of palms, smilax,
grey moss ami fresh pine needles,
which also served to form an ureh
beneath which the bride ami groom
stood. Throughout the room the
glow of waxen candies, Bet in ancient
candelabra, effused a soft and mellow
radiance, making the winde scene one
of the most striking ami picturesque
beauty.
At the appointed hour, to the
stains of Lohengrin's Wedding March,
which was rendered on the piano by
Mrs. Norman 6. Mortal, the bridal'
party entered the parlor, preeded
by Mr. Irving M. Pishburne ami Mr.H.
S. Hetty, who took their positions on
either side of the altar. They were
followed by the groom and his best
man, Mr. 10. I). Sallenger, of Charles
ton. Miss. Annie Keith Savage, the
maid of honor, next came into tie
room, ami was immediately followed
by the bride, who entered upon the
arm Of Mr. E. T. II. Shaffer. At the
altar, the Bridal pair was met by the
Rev Mr. Baker, who spoke the beaut
iful Episcopal ceremony.
The bride was gowned in an ex
\ quisito creation of messalino silk.
r trimmed with ducllOSSC lace, and made
in the Directoire style en train. Her
veil was delicately caught in her hair
by a spray of orange blossoms, and
fell in graceful folds to the train
of her gown. In her left arm she
carried a large bonnet of bride's roses
and lilies of the valley.
The maid of honor wore a beaut
iful .gown of pah- blue mossnlinc
made Diroctolre style, white carna
tions, tietl with tulle.

spacious room of the handsome home
