MOUNTVILLE SCHOOL OPENS.
Auspicious Beginning For School Year
Visit of ??Uncle" Joel Crisp.
Mount ville, Sept. 21.-Uncle Joel
Crisp, of Kinards, is here for several
days visiting his nephews and other
relatives. Uncle Joel is in his 90th
year and lias lived to see the fifth gen
eration of his descendants. He has
still living eight children and 111 grand
children, great-grandchildren and great
great-grandchildren. He is still active
and very stout for a man of that age.
Mr. Crisp is making his present home
with his daughter, Mrs. Rainey Hitt,
of Kinards.
Miss Nannelu Adams, of Thomaston,
(Ja., and Miss Lizzie Rtchey, of Abbe
ville, are visiting Miss Carry Hoyd.
Mis3 Adams is a former teacher in the
Mountvillo school and lias a number of
friends here who are glad to sec her
again.
Mr. John W. Fowler and daughters,
of Mt. Pleasant, spent Saturday night
and Sunday with their cousins, Mr. J. L.
Lloyd and family.
key. M. w. Rankin, of McCormick,
preached in the Baptist church here
Sunday evening.
Mrs. Gonnio Hamilton, of Fkom, is
spending a few (lays with her sister,
Mrs. Hllon Culbertson.
The Mounlvillc school opened this
morning with a good attendance not
withstanding the busy season. All the
teachers were promptly at their places.
Several of the trustees and patrons
were present at the opening ceremonies.

hv the principal talks were made by Mr.
W. P. Culbertson, representing the
t tachers, Mr. B. R. Fuller for the trus
tees. Mr. Lcaman Jones and Mrs. W.
?I, Cluck for the patrons. All expressed

the past and their hope of greater
things in the future.
