Mr John B. Brooks who is in charge (
of the Bryan campaign fund now being
raised in Laurens has received contri
hutions from fifty-five citizens to the {
amount of $35.50. Today the lists are
going the rounds and before evening <
the amount will be at least $50.00. Of
the amount already raised $25.(X) has <
hecn forwarded to Chairman Norman

To Vote on Bond Issue. ,
The committee to securo signers to
the petition for an election on the ques- '
tion of issuing bonds to extend the
paving work now under way have al- i
ready gotten over 300 names to their
lists and the election is assured. (
It seems that most of the citizens
who were aproached were heartily in
favor of the issue and little doubt of its
being carried is entertained. Tho issue
is for bonds to the amount of $24,000 1
and with this money over twelve miles
of sidewalks will be paved in addition <
to the paving of the street leading to
the depot. ,

Rabun, August 17. The Rabun Sun
beam Society will give an entertain
ment at Rabun Creek church Thursday
before the fifth Sunday in August
Quite an interesting program has been
arranged. Addresses will bo made by
Itcv. E. C. Watson and Rev. Chariten
Todd. Mr. Todd Is a missionary to
China and will no doubt mako an inter
esting talk on the conditions there.
The entertainment will begin promptly
at 2 o'clock p. m. The public is cor
dially Invited to be present.

the old soldiers' re-union,
Miss Ora Coleman haa been elected
