MONTHLY MEETING.
Movement Set on Foot (or the Purpose
of Increasing Membership of County
and Township Associations.
Laurens, S. C. Nov. 4,?The Laur
ens County-Cotton Growers Association
met in the Conrt House to-day.
In the absence of the President Vice
President Dr. W. C. Irby presided.
The following resolutions written by
O. G. Thompson and introduced by C.
A. Power were unanimously adopted.
Resolved. That it is the sense of
this Association that the Southern Cot
ton Association should use its efforts
and influence to secure if practicable
uniform legislation throughout the Cot
ton producing States requiring sworn
monthly, or semi-monthly reports by
ginners giving the number of each bale
of cotton ginned, such reports to be
forwarded to the secretary of the State
Cotton Associations respectively and
that the secretary of each State Asso
ciation be required to consolidate such
reports and forward to the secretary of
the Southern Cotton Association.
Tho question of how to get the peo
ple interested and to take part in this
organization came up for discussion.
Almost every man present expressed
a strong belief that, a more thorough
organization is needed is this county.
A resolution was then passed to ap
point a committee in each Township to
make an earnest effort to have their
respective Townships thoroughly or
ganized and to secure the interest of
every person possible.
The Townships are called to meet on
the first Saturday in December.

Notice to Clean Streams.
All Landowners in Laurens County
are hereby given notice that all streams
running through or adjacent to their
lands must be cleaned out by the last
day of December, next after date, as
provided by law, or said streams will be
cleaned at their expense.

Ekom, Nov. 7.?The weather has been
fine and most of the crops have been
gathered in splendid condition.
The children, grandchildren and
neighbors, all carrying well filled bask
ets, met at the home of Mrs. Jane
Cooper on Thursday and celebrated her
77th birthday. "Aunt Jane" as she is
affectionately called by every one, has
been blind for a number of years and
her health is not at all good. She
seemed to enjoy the day very much and
those who spent the day with her were
happy in making the occasion pleasant
for "Aunt Jane."
Miss Myrtie Culbertson has taken
charge of her school at Mt. Gallagher.
Miss Pearl Culbertson is visiting
friends at Wares Shoals.
Little Miss Sarah Cooper of the Mt.
Olive section is spending awhile with
her aunt, Mrs. A. R. Thome.
Misses Carl Culbertson, Grovcr Hill,
