Court of common picas adjourned Saturday at noon ami Rpeolol Judge Frank B. Cnry returned to bii borne at Abbeville Saturday. Ho will return Monday to hold tbo Court of General Session-. Tbis wus Mr. Gary's first ap pearanca here as Judge and all wcro impros8od with his clear, concise ml" iDgs on all point? and with bis striking ease of manner and lino dignity on tbo bench. Tbo jurors wcro discharged Friday morning. Quite a number oi cases were disposed of and several were continued. Probably tbo most impor tant case or cases was too suit for dam* avjea brought by Pulasky, a Jewish peddler, against Messrs . R. D. Nance and Carroll Nnnro, father and sou, prominent business men and citizens of Cross Hill, for ttn thousand dollars, five thousand each. The cases were brought separately and in the suit against the elder Nance a verdici was returned in bis favor while a vcid'ct for a small amount, twenty-five dollars, was given tbo Plaintiff in the caso bgainst Cnrroll D. Nance. Briefly st ttcd, it seems Iba'. Pulask.v . the peddler, had been ordered to stay olT the Nance premises. This warning the Jew ignored and soon afterwards lie re-visited the parties at the same plao offering to s 11 bis wares, pursu ing his dully vocation. Upon learning of bis presence on the premises, Mr. H D, Nance at once sought to eject tbo P'ddler and in doing so he struck Pul nsky several times with a whip. I'nl asky immediately proceeded to get out a warrant for the arrest of Mr. Nance, charging assault. About tbis time Car roll I). Nance heard of tbo affair and of the Jew's effort to have bis lather arrested and he, too, took a hand. Meeting up with tbo paddior at the de pot young Nance redout u his conduct and struck Pulasky one b"ow with his fist, just as the Jew was in the ao\ as Nanoo regarded it, ol making an attack on him. For this reasm Pulasky considered himself damaged to the extent of the amount sued for: the juries though' dif ferent >y. Bishop Joseph U. Key, Southern M. E.
