Death or Editor T. J. Drew.
Mr. T. J. Drew, editor of the Harts
villc Messenger, died at six o'clock
Sunday afternoon. Mr. Drew had been
in the newspaper business for a num-1
ber of years and his paper was one of
the best wooklios in tho State. He was
a brother-in-law of Messrs. W. E. and
and T. C. Lucas and was pleasantly
known to a number of Laurens people.

The summer term of the Common
Picas Court convonad Monday morn
ing with Special Judge Frank B. Gary
of Abbeville, presiding. Monday after
noon the case of Pope & Ellis vs. Chip
pay & Wright was heard. Tne casa
went to the jury Tuesday morning and
resulted in a mistrial. Tho suit was
for about $90 00, a balance due, it was
claimed, on an account bctwoon tho
Plaintiffs and Defendants.
The next case was that of Doc Wil
liams against the Seaboard railroad for
$1,000 d imsges for alleged Injuries re
ceived, while Plaintiff was stepping or
jumping off a train at Cross Hill last
year. _
