Babb, of Laurens, and M\ and Mrs . B. ,
B. Slur.dan, of Greenwood. Mrs. ,
Kiehoy and Mrs. Babb are sisters of
the bride. The m\ny pretty and useful
presents attested the fact that although
absent she was not forgotten by her
friends. Soon after the ceremony had
been perfor no 1, the bride and groom
left for their home in Orangeburg.
The groom is a prosperous young far
mer in Orangoburg and the bride is
ono of Cokesbury's mo3t popular
young ladies.
Miss I-Iannie Jones and Mr. John B.
Humbert, of Elonea Path, were mar
ried on Wednesday evening at tho
homo of the. bride's father, Mr. J. U.
Jones. At S.30 o'clock the beautiful
wedding raaroh, played by Miss Eliza
beth Cox, Honoa Path's giftod pianist,
announced th? approach of the bridal
party, which entered the beautifully
decorated parlor, the color scheme of
which was while and green, in the fol
lowing order: First, the ribbon pirls,
Misses Mary Posey and Dorothy flud
geus, of Laurons; then came the at
tendant-, Miss Humbert, of Princeton,
with Mr. Montgomery, of Honoa Bath;
Miss Lucia McGhee, of Honoa Path,
with Mr. Grubbs, of Honea Path.
Then came Mr. John Humbert, the
groom, with his best man, Mr H. B.
Humbert, of Laurens. Then came
Miss Hannio Jones, the bride, with
Miss Bello lone?, maid of honor.
The bride was dressed in white lib
erty silk, with chiffon. Her long eolt
tulle veil was caught in tho hair with
maidenhair fern and white carnations.
She carried a beautiful boquot of white
carnations and maidenhair ferns. The
maid of honor was attired in a white
silk mull dress, with rich lace trim
mings. Misses Humbert and McGhoo
wore dressed in white silk. The maid
of honor carried a lovoly boquet of
white flowers and ferns.
The contracting parties wero married
under a green arch, in the centre of
which hung the lucky horseshoe.
The marriage ceremony was most
impressively performed by 113v. P. B
Wells, of Abbeville.
After the ceremony tho guests were
invited to the prettily decorated din
ing hall, the color scheme being pink
and green, where a most appetizing
salad course, followed by ices, cream,
Sherbet and punch wore servod.

being drunk and disorderly. During
tho night he set lire to his clothing and

morning he was standing erect against

Good Start Made.
The action taken by the meeting last
woek to induce the railways to change
the passenger station's location was
precisely what it should havo been.
Thk Advertiser would advise, how
ever, that if the endeavor is to succeed,
it must be sustained. A mere request
once or twice prosouted is not likely to
result in bringing about the desired
change. It is possible that committee
after committee will have to make
visit after visit to the various companies
before I hoy discover that tho people
are in real earnest. Whenever they
raach tho conclusion that public senti
ment has been thoroughly aroused and
to such a degreo that they cannot safely
ignore it, they will act and not till
then. Railroad corporations havo a
wholesome respect for public senti
ment in action, but they are not hasty
to obey occasional and surface manifes
tations.
As to the propriety and tho neces
sity of tho depot ehinze, there is b-.it
ono side to the argument. Tho passen
ger dopot at present stands as a nui
sance and unceasing dangor to life and
property. We have hoard intelligent
peoplo go so far as to say that the loca
tion of the dopot is in itself prima facie
evidence of criminal negligence on tho
part of the railroad company in contri
buting to any accident that may thero
occur and that they would eo estimate
it in the trial of any rosulting damage
case in the court.

deu High School, assistants. This is a
strong faculty. A One course of study
has boen out-linod for tho term. The
announcements and circulars are being
sent out this week to all tho teachers,
urging their attendance upon the
school. Thero is no need to go to Rock
Hill or Knoxvllle as a good course is
provided at home in roach of all who
wish to avail thomselvos to such a

teachers to attend, l'rof. Evans who

nized as one of the foremost school mon
in the State. For several yoars ho was
Principal of tho Laurons Male Acade
my, and for the last ton or twelve years

burg's fine system of gradod schools, a
posit ion he has filled with signal success.
He also has had a groat doal of experi
ence in tho various summer schools for
teachers during tho past several years.
Mis3 Tillnnn is well known in Laur
ens having taught most acceptably and
successfully through two sessions in
the city schools. Dining the pant year
sho hold a line position in tho schools at
Salisbury, North Carolina.
As to Mr Oulberson, the other as
sistant, It can be said of him that no
teacher in the county enjoys a higher
reputation for successful teaching and
thoroughness In the schoolroom. For
the eleventh time he has been elect
ed Principal of tho Madden High School
and he hits been closely idontiflod with
the county Summer sobools aince tho
permanent establishment of them nine
years ago, either as a teacher pupil or
in tho capacity of an instructor.
