Imposing an annual tax on all taxable
property in tho City of Laurens, to
raise supplies for said city for fiscal
year, commencing January, 1, 1004.
SEC. 1. 'Be it ordained by tho City
Council of Lauren?, of the City of Lau
rens, that a tax of fifty cents on every
one hundred dollars worth of tho as
sessed value of all property, real or
personal, not exempt by law from taxa
tion, situa ed within tho limits of the
City t?f Laurens, be and tho si me is
hereby levied for corporate purposes to.
defray tho current expenses of said City
for fiscal year commencing .January,
1st, 1004 and to meet such othor in
debtedness aa has bo> n contracted by
said City for corporate purposos
That an additional tax of thirty
cents on every ono hundrod dollars
worth of the assessed valuo of all prop
erty, real or personal, not oxompt by
law from taxation, situated within the
limits of the City of Laurons, bo and
the same is hereby loviod t"> meet the
interest to become d o up'm the thirty
thousand dollar Bonds issued April is',
1807, for the purpose of meeting the
cost of the building and equipping^ the
Waterworks and Eleotric Light Plant
for said City, and to pay at least one
fortieth part of tho entiro bonded debt
Into a Sinking Fund to be used in aid of
the retirement and payments of said
Bonds.
Bsc. 2: That the Clerk of tho said
City shall enter said levies and assess
ments upon the books of said City, and
receive said taxes. That tho said ttxes
herein levied shall be paid to tho said
Clerk in lawful money of the United
States on or before the 1st day of March
1004, and any person failing to pay said
taxes shall be liable to the penalty now
provided by lav/ for tho failure to p.iy
general State tax.

their value, that there are in this Goun

ditor's and Treasurer's duplicates have
to be completed and an abstract of the
work in the Comptroller Gon ral's ollioe
