A dispatch from Rutherfordton, N.
C., says: Mrs. Mary Trull, neo ?Miss
Mary Walker, of Duusmore, Run?
combo County, was burned to death by
a camp lire last night about three miles
from here on the Asheville road. She
nnd her husband, who have been mar
ried but twenty-threo days, were on
their way frjm Cherryvllle to Duns
moro to make the ir future home. When
night ovortook them, they built up a
large tiro, put down their bed, and went
to sleep. About nine o'clock Mrs.
Trull's clothes caught from the loaves]
which burned out to whore they slept.
Every particle of her clothes and flesh
were burned off from her knees to her
shoulders.
Dr. C. W. Downey, who attended the
pationt, says it wai one of the most
pitiful sights ha has ever witnessed.
He says the woman was burned Into a
crisp. Mrs. Trull was a line looking
woman. She is a daughter of Mrs.
Tooman Bradley, of Dunsmore. Mr
Trull is a native of Ilaywood County.
It is thought ho re that the parties ran
away and married.

On Wednesday ovoning, Dec. 24th at
tho Second Baptist Church, Mr. Will
J. Sloan and Mrs. Cannio Gore, both of
this city, were united in marriage, Rev.

Modlock were married, Wednesday
evening, Dec. 24th, at the rcsidonco of
Mr. E. B. Tompleton, Rev. B. B. Hill,
performing tho coreinony.

At about two o'clock on last Wednes
day, the home of Rov. and Mrs. W.
A. Clarke In Brooklyn was discovered
to be on Are. A chimney caught on
fire, the roof ^jught from that, and In
a short while the entire roof was in
flames. Every effort was made to
check tho lire by the occupants and
neighbor^, but before the lire com
pany could roach the housa the flro
was beyond control and the entire
building was burned. It was a largo
old fashioned hoaso which had been
remodelled in recont yours and was In
sured for only twenty-live hundred
dollars, which leaves a considerable
loss. The furniture was largely saved.
Mrs. Clarke, Who is stuying with hor
brother, Mr. J. H. Sullivan, has boon
much prostrated since the lire.

Eugeno Davenport, colored, shot
and killed instantly Press Taylor, also
colored on Mr. Will 'league's planta
tion six miles from town on Christmas
day. Davenport claims that tho shoot
ing was accidental but ho attempteil to
escape after doing the deed, was caught
by Mr. Teague atfd is now in jail
awaiting trial.
