Letter to Laurens Drug Co.
Laurens, S. C.
Door Sirs: Shuffert Hardware Co.,
Hickory, N. C, bought a car-load of
paint; after selling it a few months,
found-out it measured seven pints a
"garon."
Returned it to the maker and cred
ited customers with what they had
lost from short measure.
What do you think of a short-meas
ure paint? Don't you think it half
whit>wash? Half the paints are part
are part white-wash.
Go by tho name; Devoe lead-and
zlnc. No whiting or clay in that; full
measure berides. A gallon Devoe is
worth two of white-wash paint.
Yours truly,
F. W. DeVok & Co.
N. B.~Moseley & Roland sell our

There's No Particular Secret

competitors are obliged to recognize
it as a stardard and olfor their flour as
"just as good."

WHY RENT?
When you can own your own home
with the same money?
Tho Piedmont Savings and Invest
ment Company will enable you to do
this.
Instead of Paying Rent for years
and owning nothing at the end of the
term tho property is yours,
Moanwhile, you have had the home
from the first?with tho motive to im
prove It.
Owning one's homo does more to
make an independent man than any
thing else.
A man with little <>?? no property finds
it hard to borrow and build.
Suoh men this company provides
credit for.
Thero are hundreds of working
men in this town paying rent on
houses that are no', cosy and oomforta
ble, they have no convonlences, that
are not kept up and that are not im
proving in value.
Lot* in Laurens are cheap. These
samo men, with the rent monoy they
are paying, can all own homes in
which they wi'l take pride and which
will grow more valuable each year.
The Piedmont Savings and Invest
ment Company is not a building and
loan association. Why? Beoause the
contract is certain and definite. The
borrower knows to a day when his
debt will be due. Moreover the rate of
interest is lower.
W. W. BALL and M. L. COPELAND

Wonderful Accomplishment of Kellogjr,
the ??BIrd Warbler."
The San Francisco Chronicle says of
Kellogg, who will appear in tho Opera
House on the 10th, under the auspices
of tho Lyceum:
"Last evening thore was introduced
to tho Sao Francisco public a young
man wi'.h a power of vocalization which
is astonishing. Charles D. Kellogg
was advertised upon tho program as a
' bird warbler," but thero were few, if
any, who had any iiloa of the nature of
bis wonderful accomplishment. Miss P.
B. Crowell sat at the piano and played
tho first birs of the ''G retchen Ga
votte," and immediately there chimed
in with the notes of the piano, varying
and improvising upon the melody, but
always in pnrf et harmony, tho re
markable no cs of Mr. Kellogg's voioe.
It was not whist'ing, nor was H ' yod
iing" In which so many voealisls are
experts. It was so unlike anything
ever heard bafjre, and so boautifu',
that the audience was spellbound.?
"Bird warbing" is the proper name for
it, for it is a perfect reproduction of
the singing of birds; but he does what
tho feathered sjngater cannot do?he
interprets in bird language tho most
difllcult musical compositions."
CURES CATAKRH.
"Hyomei the Most Wonderful Cure for
Catarrh Ever Discovered," Says
Laurens Drug Co.
Do not try to cure catarrh by tiking
drugs into tho stomach; it cannot bo
cured In that manner. Tho only way in
which this too common diseaso can be
cured is through a direct application
that will kill the bacdli of catarrh and
prevent thoir growth.
Hyomei is tho only known method of
treatment that accomplishes this. It is
the simplest, most pleasant and tho
only absolute cure for catarrh that has
been discovered.
Thousands of unsolicited testimo
nials have been received from tho most
prominent men and women In the coun
try who have been cured by this ro
markablo remedy. Ministers, bankers,
lawyers, even ominont physicians have
given strong testimonials as to the re
markable powers of Hyomoi to euro ca
tarrh.
The complete Hyomoi outfit costs
but fcl.oO, consisting of an Inhaler,
dropper and sufficient Hyomoi to last
several weeks. This will effect a euro
in ordinary cases, but for chronic and
deep-seated casos of catarrh, longer
use may bo necossary, and tlion oxtra
bottles of Hyomei can be obtained for
50 cents. It is not alone the best (it
might be called the only) method of
ouring catarrh, but it is also tho most
economical.
Tho Laurens Drug (Jo. have so much
confldonce in tho power of Hyomoi to
cure catarrh that they will for a lim
ited time, sell this medicino under
their personal guarantee to refund the
money If the purchasers can say that
It did not help them.

Charles Loke, mill hand, of Factory

opinion are the best backache cure in
this world. They curod me and I have
had backach-3 for at least two years,
and have baen so bid at times I could
not get out of bed, much less go to
work. I havo had my wife rub It with
liniment until It was all a blister. T
tried numerous remedies but without
them doing mo one bit of good. Tho
secretions from the kidneys were as red
as b'ood, full of sediment and I could
not hold thorn, especially at night
when my rest was broken, on account
of my having to get up a number of
times. I learned of Doan's Kidney
Pil's and sent to the Palmetto Drug
Co* for a box. I did not b?lievo thoy
would do me any more good than tho
other remedies 1 had tried, but I was
mistaken. I felt better tin very next
day, and my back gradually became
strong and the aching disappeared. I
do not havo to get up at nights now at
all and tho kidneys have become regu
lar and natural in action.
