Mrs. Clara Albright, widow of the late Mr. William Albright, who died in Texas, years ago, and mother of Dr. G. C. Albright of this oity, died at her home In Clinton last Thursday night, after a long illnoss. Mrs. Albright was a devoted Chris tian woman and was greatly beloved by a large circle of friends In Clinton and elsewhere who will hear with deep sor row of her death. No Redress Possible for Injured Party. Strange Proceedings of Raiders After Contraband In the City of Charleston Last Week. The dispatch below appeared In the Atlanta Constitution of Saturday. Mrs. Trenholm is tho aged widow of a dis tinguished Carolinian. It 6eems queer that the constables, arriving at the house, lacked discretion to understand that a mistake had been mado but the incident shows what may befall nny man or woman under the operation of the dispensary system: "Charleston, S. C, April 11.?(Spe cial.)?Acting under instructions from Chief Constable Hammctt, constables yesterday raided the private residence of Mrs Kate L. Trenholm, at the head of the fashionable battery, on a wild hunt for blind tiger liquor. "Mrs. Tremholm is tho widow of the lato W illiam L. Tremholm, who was coinptro ler of currency under the Clevoland administration. When tho cmcers reached tho house Mrs. Tren holm protested bitterly, but it had no effect, and every room was ransacked. Nothing was found. Great Indignation was expressed whon it became known that the house had been searched. "The only exp'ana'ion of the con stabulary is that a mistake was mado In the number of tho street when cer tain information was furnished. Promi nent citizens have taken up the matter, and it was said tonight thnt a commit tee would be sent to Columbia to com plain to Governor Hey ward. The boys and gir's are meeting at night now at the school house, prepar ing their exercises for the coming en tertainment at tho closing of the school which will be about tho first of May. The exact date will bo announced later. Mrs. Mary Stewart has returned to her homo in Greenwood. Her daughter Mrs. J. 25. Manly accompanied hor back to spend about two weeks. Mr. E. E.
