In a quarrel over a game of cards on
S. M. Meares' place on last Saturday
night Coot N in son was shot and killed
by Henry Turnbull, both colored.

free delivery will begin about April
1st, at least so say the powers that be.
Mr. Prior, with a Siuall division of
the chain gang, repaired two bridges
in our border last week. The retontion
of Mr. Prior, as chief guard of the
conviots by Mr. Humbert, was most
fortunate for the county, as he is the
right man for the place.
There has not been much land broken
lor the next crop as yet, which may be
well, as our copious winter rains have
a tendency to leach the plowed soil and
make it raoro compact. Quano bolng
a little cheapor than common we use
more of it that the bill may be about
the same; how truly true that habit be
comes second nature.
The high price of mules seems to be
an Incentive to purchase. They seem
more of a luxury to tho farmer by rea
son of the high price.
