In discussing the matter yesterday with a representa tive of Tho Sun-Jay News Major Wheeler said: Wo aro arranging t> have a school week at tho Exposition, and special efforts are baiog made to have the pu pils, with their friends, parents and escorts, visit Charleston. A holiday will be gl von by nearly all the colleges, unl vcrsitles, normal and other schools, from Thursday befcro Good Friday until tho second Monday following, a period of ten days, and we expect the greatest gatbo-Ing of the kind ever held ia tho South.* The people of Chsr les'on will throw open their homes for tho entertainment of thiro visitors at a nominal rato. A Great Thiug Projected for Laurens. A syndicate composed of such pro mioent business men as Messrs. W. L. and C. K Gray, J. W. Fowler and M. 3. Bailey of Clinton has boen formed with the view of erecting a handsome modern hotel on tiie site where tho buildings of Messrs Ballfy and Fowler recently collupscd. Architects havo been in the city drawing up plans for tbo hotel since Monday and the gentlemen Interested say that It Is almost a certainty that they will be accepted and the hotel Im? mediately built. The plans provide for a thoroughly modern hotel, to con tain forty-two bed rooms and to be furnace heated, lighted by electricity oto. It is a par: of the plan to havo the up town telegraph olllco, the olllco of the telephone company and tie post-oflic^ located in tho building. There will also bo one or two stores for rent. The building is to contiin three 6tories and will be built of briek. If it is built it will be a splendid thing for the to* n, and it is general y and urgently hoped that It will. Tho pro posed hotel is certainly tho most pop ular topic of iho hour. There seoms to be a gang of burglars operating in tho community and it would be well for citizens to put their gcods and chattels under extra bolts. Mrs. Elol8e Sboll's kitchen was enter ed last Thursday night but entrance into the dwelling was not effected and on Saturday night Mrs. Swit/.or's boarding-hcuso nnd Mr W. II. Anderson died at his homo In Huntsvillc, Alnbnma on the fourth of this month. Professor An derson was the father of Mrs. George F. Young ?nd a brother of Mrs. W. L. Bo}d of this city. Other rolatives in this Stato are Dr. David Anderson of Fairview and Mr, George Anderson, formerly of this city but now of R ck Hill. Professor Anderson h:.d many friends and was in high esteem in this city. lie was prominent in educational work throughout a long and usofol lifo and twenty years ago was tbo presi dent of tho Laorensville Female Col lege, which has since passed out of existence but was at that l imo a success ful institution. Machray, near Tylersvillo, on yester day morning. He suffered with pneu monia, was twenty years old and a fire youth. The parents have a large cir cle of friends who extend their sympa thy.
