Tho cold, heavy rain of April 20th and 27th was general over the State, and in places accom panied by high winds, sleet and hail. In the South-eastern por tions of the State tho rain was needed, and in the vicinity of Charleston more would prove benenoial but generally this rain fell on an already saturated soil, causing minor creeks and branches to ovorllow, and in BSdgofield county damaging hinds washing thorn. Seed recently planted are slow in coming up and much replanting is necessary- Some fields whore the cotton failed to come up, or was killed by frost, are being planted iu corn.
