A Pleasant Concert* An audience of cultivated people wore delightfully entertained at the Opera House on the evening of the lUth Inst. It was the occasion oi the ontortalnment of Miss Anne Doll Bar nolto and Miss Mary McOeo, the former of Alabama and tho latter of Greenwood. These talented young ladles gave a oholeo programme of in strumental and vocal music, with re citations, evidencing high talopts and the highest promise for the future. It was a greatly charmed audience. A Killing. On Wednesday last, in this county near l.anford Station, Turner Meredith, colored, killed Julius Brown, another colored man, with a shot gun. It is claimed that Meredith killed the man In self-defence, lb-own boing in tho act as supposed by Meredith of tiring upon Meredith. Brown lived about twenty-four hour-. The meeting adjourned to to meet next Friday, the20th at 1 o'clock to which we hope all Interested will turn out. From the outlook now we are con fident our show this time will uclipso any previous one. more especially in re gard to the races. The secretary al ready having had inquiries from differ ent horse men over the State, who ex press their intention oi coming to our show, which will be 8th and 7th Oct.
