This proporty recovored by tho Stato Of South Carolina from ono l'arker.ono Of tho reconstruction thlovos, and Stato Treasurer, was in possession of tho State during Govornor Tlllman's time. Tho OBtabllshmcnt alfords tho largest Hall in tho Stato and is com monly known as "l'arker's Haul." The Stato having no uso for it and needing money, ordered it sold ; it was sold by the Stato Sinking Fund Com mission and bid off at a low prico by One Wesley. Govornor Tiliman or dored Secretary of Stato Tindal to re fuse possession. Wosley brought suit, got a verdict in the lower Court, It was appealed to tho Supromo Court of tho Unltod States and tho decision is against Mr. Tindal and tho taxpayers loso tho property and pay the costs, is now used as tho Stato Dispensary and is the only sultahlo plaoe in Co lumbia for that institution. Perhaps I need an introduction to Tub Advertiser, and its readers as I have been absent for somo time. 1 have been very busy in prepar ing and planting and news some what scarce is the reason why I have not put in my appearance before now. The farmers are pretty well through planting ex cept the low lands, and they will be put in this week. Harrowing and siding cotton has been the or der of the past few days. The early planting is up to a stand, and last planting will soon be up as we are having line rains at this wiiting. It rained pretty well all last night, 12th and this morning, (Thursday) it is raining gently. I went over to the contemplated new Court House on Monday and no ticed very poor stands of cotton through Abbeville county. They had a very heavy rain fall on first of May which caused some to plant over and others will have to follow suit. On my way I noticed several big fields prepared for cotton, but unplanted, while I noticed some unprepared. Mrs. Mollie Alewine is very sick at this writing. Dr. Williams, now ot your city has been treating her fq? six months for a cancer and has aJ>out pronounced it beyond his skill, although he is very often in thfs community, but on other busi ness besides treating cancers.? Heart trouble concerning the fair sex, I presume. Come Dr. as often as its suit6 you wc are always glad to see you. G. Pet Smith and wife were over at Honca Path Monday shop ping. I think Pet will quit farm ing and take up the practice of law. Then he can devote more of his time to politics. Bob Monroe, of Welford, and the Monroes of Honea Path were around yesterday selling Organs and Sewing Machines. Bob is a good, clever fellow anil a fine busi ness man. Rev. D. A. Swindler filled his regular appointment on last Satur urday at Mt. Gallagher and Mr, Pisco, of Ncwbery occupied the pulpit on Sunday in bis stead. Ex-Probate Judge, J. M. Clardy, of your city worshipped at Mount Gallagher, Sunday. Communion service will be ob served at Mt. Gallagher on the sec ond Sunday in June. Mr. Willie L. Balcntine is repre senting W. T.
