ages, dogs, merchandise, machinery and
engines, moneys, notes and accounts
above indebtedness, and all other prop
erty including household.

Under the head of place of residence
on tax returns give tho township.
All male citizens between the ages of
twenty-one and fifty years, on the let
day of January, 1890, except those who
are incapable of earning a support from
being maimed or from other causes nro
deemed taxable pollB.
And every taxpayer is required to
give tbe number of their school district.
After the 20th day of February npxt
fifty per cent, penalty will bo attached
for failures to make return?. ? ?
In evory community thero are persons
who cannot read or that do not tako a
newspaper. Those more fortunate may
do such persons a groat favor by telling
them of the time to make returns or by
returning for them.
The assessing and collecting taxes is
alt done in the samo year, and wo havo
to aggregate the number and value of all
horses, mules, cattle and other pieces of
Iieraonalty, as well as tho acres of land,
ots and buildings and their value, that
there is in tho County, ami havo tin
same on file in Comptroller Ooneral's
office by the 30th day of June of each
year, and from that Hone to the first day
of October tho Auditor and Treasurer's
duplicate havo to be completed and an
abstract of the work in tho Comptroller's
office by that time, which will Hhow at a
glance that the Auditor has no time to
tako returns Or anything else much be
