Mrs. J. N. Wright was called to

Mr. Potter was a resident of Laurens,
a good many years ago so is well
known and has many friends here, who
are glad to accord him a welcome.

hotol at Salisbury, N. C. Mr. Spencer
is a groat loss to the town and his de
parture is regretted by scores of
friends. Mr. Langston of Johnson, S.
C, will arrive iu a few days to assume
the management of tho Bendella.

Mr. N, A. Greene, whom wo men

last Tuesday night. Mr. Greene was
one of tho oldest citizens of our town
and a consistent member of tho Pres
byterian ehuroh. His remains wore
'interred in tho Clinton eomotcry after

o'clock. His bereaved wife has our
heartfelt sympathy.
A colored child about 4 years old
was burned to death Friday afternoon
while playing with fire out of doors, its
??lothing caught and it was badly burned
before assistance roachod it. It died a
short while afterwards.

Finloy woro married at the residence of

bridal party immediately left for Clin

The stores of our little town were all
dosed and all othor business suspended
>n Thanksgiving day. Some of our
young men and ladies, boys and girls
?pent the dav rabbit hunting.
"Magister1' and his little family
enjoyed the Thanksgiving turkey with
Ovy friend and neighbor, Mr. A. E.
Nance. Mrs. Nance is certainly an
expert in preparing a Thanksgiving
dinner. We enjoyed tho dinner and
spent the day very pleasantly.
The firm of Messrs. Watson ?.V Cor
ley, merchants who recently located
at this place has beendiosolvcd by mu
tual consent. Mr. J. C. Corloy has
purchased the whole stock of goods and
will continue business at the same
place.
Mr. D. C. Smith has purchased Mr.
J* W. Washington's interest in the
ginning and other maehinory in town.
Mr. Smith is now sole owner of this
valuable machinery which is the best
paying property in Waterloo. They
gin each season from twelve to fifteen
hundred bales of cotton, running three
gins.
Mr. R. Turner, of Cross Hill, has
rented and will move to the Seymour
place in town next year.
Hov. Mr. Doughorty, of Newberry,
has made applieationfor house rent in
town, which if he can secure, he will
move to Waterloo next year.
Our young ladies and gentlemen
propose to have charades and tableaux
at Andorson's Hall during the Christ
mas holidays.
Our High School is in a fllourlshing
conditin. Prof. MoElroy will have an
assistant after Christmas.
Mr. C. S. Ellorbe, of Sumter, who
recently purchased from Dr. J, q.
Wilber, the mineral Springs near the
famous Harris Litha Springs, will at
an early date commence the erection
of a line hotel convenient to his springs.
These springs are destined to become
a famous summer resort and watering

Dr. Willie Jones', of the Abbeville
side, had the misfortune to loso by lire
last week his dwelling and all its con
tents except some of his furniture that
was downstairs. Tho loss is $1500, in
surance $1000. Wo deeply sympathize
with him in his loss.
Miss Corrie Moore will take charge
of a school at Rocky Mount next Mon
day. The patrons are to be congratu
lated on securing her services.
Mr. J. M. Owings Is suffering from a
rising on his eye. We wisli him a
speedy recovery.
