Special to The Stale. Habana, Dec. 2?On Friday norning last there occurred in he suburbs of this city a little tffair of ' honor" between two of ho best, known men in the city. Due of the principals was a congressman who is noted for his radical views and his constant opposition to the government, l'lie other man i? r>ne u/Ih^a talents in the literary field arc recognized and who is known as in earnest supporter of the Cuban government. The latter was a major in the Cuban army of liberation and the congressman holds the rank of general. The "affair" is due to an article which was published in one of the papers of this city some time ago in which the congressman was attacked and it has been the outcome of two other duels before this one. The first duel was caused because one of the friends of the absent congressman objected to the article and said it was cowaidly to so write about a man when he was away. A challenge followed and the writer of the article, a nminr l?ia antagonist. Then om of tho seconds ol the principal took up the quarrel an(l another duel was fought two or three days afterwards. A few days ago the congressman, who has been spending a greater part of the summer and fall in the United States, returned ami at once challenged the major to answer to him lor the article attacking him. The congressman got by lar the worst ot I lie argument and any one visiting the lower house of congress during the next few days will see one of the number with some court plaster on his face which is the result of his antagonist's sword point. Tho oinor wound was delivered in the sword arm and while not dangerous is very painful. Fight Will be Bitter.
