How it originated is a mysery. 1
According to the history of ono 1
^ man who escaped from the shanty 3
the men lost their lives through a 1
fire which started from an overheated
stove. The stove became
redhot, it is said, and the interior
of the shanty, which was lined f
with inflammable paper, caught I
fire. The shanty was 03 foat lone i

ians employed on the Pennsyl- 1
vania railros 1 between Lilly and
Portage. On each side of an aisle

thoso who escaped thore are many
who boar marks of tho fierce
struggle which took place in this
battle. Ono of the witnessoa says I
he does not believe a single man <

again. in the ruins some of the j
corpses were close beside the i
hoop iron bands of the trunks <
and molted gold and silver which '
had been kept in thosereoeptacles
indicated that, the owners had ,
fallen and died with their treas- |'
ures in their arras. The bodies
were all practically burned to 1
pieces.

demolished at Cneuiuitz. A tug

been lost. Seven passengers were
seriously injured by the derailing
of a train at Zehausen.
