The police and courier believe the tiro to have b# n of incendiary origin, jr The fire^iad been burning for 8omejfnnutes before it was disc^y<*red. It had started in the basement and rushing upward, had attacked the stairway leading to the apartments. In a short space of time the tlames had so enveloped the stairway that egress from the building by it was im- I possible. The house from tha| third to (tie fifth floor was entirely destroyed. At the windows, front and rear bodies of men and women were jammed, showing that a desper ate struggle to get free had resulted in the complete choking of these exits to the fire escapes and had been the cause of a*number of tho inmates being suffocated. Lying on a bed alongside a window at the rear of the fourth lloor a fireman found the bodies of fivo men. Each had clutched the one next to him in an endeavor to push him away in order to get to the (ire escape outside. The features of the men | were distorted, some with rage others with agony and in two in stances the men had gripped each other so hard that blood had been drawn and had ran over their hands. On the third floor were found the bodies of Maculeta Vingiguerro and her baby. The mother had crawled to the front window and had succeeded in grtssping the sill when she was suffocated. In her arms lay the body of her child. On I he third lloor in an apart, ent, where a Halloween party was being held, John O'Toole, one of the occupants, started to go to the street. Ho was met by a vol nine of smoke as he opened the door. Ho ran to the fire escape, followed by all those in the Hat, with the exception of his mother, whose charred body was found lying at the entrance to the apartment. O'Toole and the others escaped. A child of Mrs. Geo. T. Benson, when getting his usual Saturday nierhfc hath stpnnArt h??lr against a hot atove which burned him aeverely. 'Ihe child was in great agony and hia mother could do nothing to pacify him. Remembering that ahe had a bottle of Chamberlain's Rain Halm in the house, she thought ahe would try it. In leas than half an hour after applying it the child waa quiet and asleep, and in leas than two weeks waa well. Mrs. Benson is a well known resident of Kellar, Va. (}.. a leading Liverpool merchani and president of the Chamber ot' Commerce of that city, foresee0 *he (lav wh?n 'America will cease i.o supply Lancashire with cotton and when the United States may even have to look to West Africa for her own needs. Sir Alired, in an interview, said: uFor three years I have been studying this (piestion of producing cotton. America will soon want all the cotton she grows. Her population is increasing and her consumption of cotton is in creasing in proportion. About ten years ago America produced 7,000.000 bales ot cotton and Oreat Britain took half of it. Now America produces 11,000,000 and Britain takes no more than she (lid ten years ago. This is a luet that startled me and showed nie it was at snlutcly necessary we should stir ourselves and make some effort to provido a supply of cotton from other sources. UI got seed from Ameiica and sent it out to all the colonies. One of the most remarkable cases of a cold, deep seated on the lungs, causing pneumonia, is that of Mrs. Gertrude E. Fenner, Marion, lnd., who was entirely cured by the use of One Minute Cough Cure. She says: "The coughing and straining so weakened me that I ran down in weight from 14S to 92 pounds. I tried a number of remedies to no ; i * 1 t j /a _ *? avail until i useu one minute Cough Cure. Four bottles of this wonderful remedy cnred me entirely of the cough, Rtrengthed my lungH and restored me to my normal weight, health and strength." Sold by Crawford Bros.
