The trial of J. II. Tillman will
come to an end probtfbly tonight
or tomorrow. The taking of the
evidence was completed last Saturday.
The lawyers made their i
arguments Monday and Tuesday,
and this morning the judge will J
charge the jury and turu the case <
over to them probably about mid- <
day. Just how soon the jury
will agree (or disagree) is a mat- i
ter of conjecture ; but it is hardly
probable that they will be in J^edfury
room longer than to

Winthrop college, lias organized 1
a music class and is teaching in
one ot the rooms of the building.
U iss Stewart comes highly (
recommended as a music teacher "
and is a charming woman, on dit. (
We learn from the superin '
\tendent that so far there has not (
been a single case requiring 1
severe discipline, and if the 1
parents will work hand in hand
with the trustees and all will 1
support the superintendent and
teachers, there need be none during
the entire year.
A number ol charts have been
placed upon the walla of the
lower grade, and b, degrees ad- *
ditionul suitable equipments will f
be provided.
Our superintendent ia a teach- c
er of acknowledged ability and 1
withal a first class disciplinarian, j a
mid he lms a corps of assistants
lhat would do credit to any
school in the State, and the
patrons can confidently expect
substantial progress bv their ,
children, provided they do their ,
part.
