The American Society of Equity
- will issue a bulletin tomorrow to
the farmers ol the United States
demanding an increase in the
price ot wheat, arguing that the
minimum price of wheat should
bo $1 a bushel and urging the
farmers of the United States not
to sell for less than $1. The
society has been organized with
this city as national headquarters
to maintain higher prices for
farm products by cdoperatioy of
the iarmers ot the country and
this is (he first foimal demand
for increase in prices as the result
of the combination.
The bulletiii says this is an era
of unequaled prosperity, demand
tor commodities is unprecedented,
labor is receiving higher wages
than ever before and the demand
for and consumption of wheat is
greater than ever before with a
low visible supply.

It was stated last evening at
the Maryland (Jeneral Hospital
tha^ Richard Curl in, colored, who
wan shot bv Howard Warden,
colored, on election dav at Brunt
and McM echen streets, has prac-(
tieally rec vered and that he will
be discharged from the hospital
in a lew days. The recovery of
Curtis is regarded as one of the
most remarkable cases on record.
When Dr. R. W. Johnson began
to operate on Curtis on the even
ing of the shooting he tound sev
enteen perforations of the intestines
and five perforations ol
other organs. The stomach was
also filled with blood.
The case will be written up for
a medical work, as it. is thought
to be without a parallel! in the
history of surgery m this country.
