old prospector who discovered
the famous Lee silver mine. see.

located those claims known as
the Lee mines, which subsequently
brought a fortune ot
$'2,000,000 to Governor K. W.
Waterman, ot California. Soon

properties he disappeared into
the desert and was never seen
l again. A great deal of excite
merit was occasioned bv Lee's
withdrawal from the world and

Now the riddle has been solved
and the skeleton of old A biter
Lee, the bones of his burros, his

pack bearing his name on the

Devil's Playground by "Jim"
Moran, a desert freighter, plying
--between Penner. on the Saute
Ke Road and Resting Spring
branch, at the head of Death
Valley. The shifting sands

back their dead, the minors are
cleared ol obloquy and the bones
of the prospector have been given
decent burial on the crystalline
shores of Soda Lake.
According to Leo's story at the
time (and this was subsequently
verified) there wore vast ledges
