sought to elevate his name.

When on insults Sam could no longer

And then the fight between them (
grew so warm.
That victory seemed a doubtful ,

In spite of British arrogance.
And after years of strife and bloody

The haughty foe was driven hence
Resigned all title to Sammy's soil,
Nor longer argued a vain pretense, j
'Twas thus that Uncle Sam began the
world,
A small, but brave and fearless lad
And freedom's banner to the breexe
unfurled,
.Nor knew one friend on earth he
had.
But Uncle Sam has since grown very
high
And far and wide o'er iand ar.d sea j
