The Senate amended the house
bill appropriating $200,000 to the
pensioners, making it $150,000,
and as it now appears, the amen
ded bill passed. The provision
for appropriating $100,000 to the
country schools was defeated in
the Senate.
The cotton market has had a

broke below 9 cents yesterday,
closing at 8.98. with May deliver}
at 9.0G. It now looks like those
who have spot cotton have held
it too long.
