The charge of a combine between
the cotton seed oil mills
to put down the price of seed is
made by the Attorney General
of Mississippi. The public is
wondering if there is a combino
in this State.
The nar value of the stock of
the Standard Oil Company is
$97,500,000. The stock is worth
seven times that amount, to wit:
$682,500,000. During the year
the company has paid $46,000,000
in dividends. This rIiows
what enormous profits this
great trust is getting out of the
people that use their "stuff,"
for stuff it is very often.
The report of a general killing
frost throughout Texas Sunday
night freightened tho bears
on the cotton exchange and put
the market in the hands of the
bulls all day Monday and they
tooa it up about a quartor of a
cent. Yesterday however there
was a strong fight between the
bulls and the bears, and the
market lost some of its gain
Monday.

Manchuria Lost.
London, Nov. 11.?Dr. Morrison,
wiring to The Times from
I'ekin Saturday says:
"Li Hung Chang has not yet
replied to Admiral AlexiefFs invitation
to resume the govern
ment of Manchuria under Russian
protection. Russia will require
the names of all officials to
he submitted to her approval. Her
proposals are tantamount to military
occupation and every Chinaman
realizes that Manchuria is
lost to China.
"Increasing alarm is felt here
at the spread of the insurrection
in the southern provinces. No
surprise will be caused if Japan
intervenes. The trade and financial
outlook is very gloomy."
