Kor The Enterprite. The Colored Fair. On the first clay of the coin ml lair the opening address was delivered by Mr. Thomson, the Mayor of Lancaster. The mayor said many things to encourage our elTnrts aud to assure us that v e had the moral and financial support ot the best white citizens. Mr. Thomson said the colored fair was a repetition ol history kt every civilized nation, ni some period of its history, put on cx hibition the products of iis in dgstrial labors. He said that we should encourage industry along v ith our mental development for, the educated farmer, is a blessing to the community. He exhorted the people to build up a rep utation for honesty so thai there would be no question as to their dealing with their neighbors. IJe said colored men should trust one another, and if there comes a time when a bond is to be given let the colored men have sullicient confidence in themselves to go to the rescue of each other. Mr. Thomson was followed by lawyer Hough who was unex pectedly called upon but certain l.v made a timely address. Mr. Hough said he was a friend to struggling humanity and was glad to be present to encourage tlie efforts of the colored fair. He said an honest, intelligent, wealthproducing citizen is an important factor in any community and will lie respected regardless of color.
