Tenant limine Burned.
A tenant house on Mr. John E. j
Porter's place was burned one
day this week. It was occupied :
by some negroes, but no one was
there when the tire started except
a sick woman and she was
unable to put the fire out. She
managed to get part of their
household elTects out and the balance
was burned.
Accident to Capt. /. IT. Moore.
News came hero Thuisday that
/'apt. I. W. Moore had met with
<11 accident that had necessitated
& * he amputation of his left hand

"Mr. 1. W. Moore, of Lancaster,
net with an accident last eveting
when the north hound South
urn came in. He did not hear the
call for Kock Hill, but just as the
train was moving out he learned
that he was passing his destination.
Hurriedly making his way
to the platform he grasped the
rail and prepared to jump from
tho train which was moving slow
]y. In some way ho slipped and
that was the last, he knew for
f tome time. He was picked up
and carried to a drug store and
aftarwnrd to a physician's office
where it was found necessary to
amputate his left hand at the
wrist, that member being crushed
beyond hope of saving. He was
then taken to Dr. Stevens' re
idence."

be badly hurt.
